THE STENCH OF POLITICAL DEATH IS GROWING AROUND TRUMP'S CAMPAIGN

The candidate spends most of his time ranting about his criminal trials. The campaign is struggling to raise money from voters, and there is no swing state operation, as the Trump campaign reeks of political death. The Washington Post reported on the alarm bells being rung by swing state Republicans:

“In order to win close elections in Georgia, you have to have a ground game that emphasizes turning out early votes and absentee votes,” said Cody Hall, a senior adviser to Gov. Brian Kemp (R). “I have seen no evidence of them having any of that. The Trump campaign has a consultant in Georgia, but there is nothing else that I can see. … Everyone is generally concerned. “There is no sign of life,” said Kim Owens, a Republican operative and public relations professional in Arizona. “Especially in a state that Trump lost so closely last time, you’d expect to have more of a presence. I would think, ‘Let’s step it up.’ I think it’s a terrible mistake.” In Michigan, some of the state’s operatives and Republican lawmakers have grown concerned about a lack of an operation there, according to four people familiar with the matter, even as they feel generally bullish about the state.

Trump’s big problem is that much of the money that he is raising is going to pay legal bills. The Trump campaign has tried to spin the situation as the ex-president running a leaner and meaner operation, but since he wasted $1 billion in campaign funds in 2020, Donald Trump has struggled to raise cash.

Trump is increasingly trying to cut deals with potentially wealthy donors like Big Oil, but this is a very different operation from 2016. There is no campaign arm mobilizing potential voters, and since took over the RNC and turned it into his personal operation, there is no party-wide effort in the swing states. It sounds like swing state Republican parties are out there on their own while Biden and the Democrats are building a massive get-out-the-vote operation.

Campaigns that have money troubles and no get-out-the-vote operation tend to underperform the polling and lose. Trump’s campaign reeks of electoral death, and if the situation continues for much longer, the GOP could be looking at another Trump-led loss in 2024.

My fears are justified.

How does one comfortably solicit, bribe, extort, cash from a special interest, offering a clear quid pro quo, out loud, with no expectation of reprisal?

He knows his chances of prosecution, that the wheels of justice turn slowly enough to get past November, and has no qualms.

It occurs to me this is why he and Tim Scott keep responding negatively to questions about accepting the vote—the vote doesn’t matter. What matters is declaring the election rigged and also repub-controlled State govt controlling how the elections are run. It’s the “It’s unfair because I say it is” ruse. This has always been my fear. I can’t see TSF getting more votes than Biden, but voter suppression, intimidation, state election laws, repub governors and atty generals, etc, can cause chaos. It’s going to rough. Bank on it.

And just weeks before the election the Justice Department violated their own rules by publicly announcing more investigation. In addition, Trump sweet-talked the Mid West into believing he would restore manufacturing...something Biden is actually doing, and of course, Trump did no such thing.

It didn't help that NAFTA became an issue and even though Hillary had nothing to do with it, she was blamed. It also didn't help that she was forced to support the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) as a member of President Obama's candidate. I was against the PPP but it would never affect my vote. Having presence in those states is money well spent to get the voting electorate involved. Democrats have winning issues popular with the voters....Abortion and Reproductive Rights, growing Democracy, Student Loan forgiveness, Jobs, Higher Wages, etc. Kitchen table issues that hit home with voters. Democrats running for office are getting the message out.

What do the Republicans have going for them? TAKING AWAY everything we hold dear as a Nation, a people. NOT a winning strategy.

How Paul Manafort Tried to Make Money With a Project Supposedly Tied to the Chinese Regime

Read the confidential memo he wrote about the deal.

by David Corn
Mother Jones, May 10, 2024

In March, the politerati were atwitter over what appeared major news: Longtime political operator, lobbyist, wheeler-dealer, and (pardoned) felon Paul Manafort was in talks to join Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. This seemed an odd move, given all of Manafort’s schemings over the years. A more recent Manafort business venture—unknown to the public—raises further questions about him and his attempt to return to the Trump fold. According to documents obtained by Mother Jones—including a memo written by Manafort—two years ago, Manafort was trying to orchestrate a $250 million deal to create a streaming service in China in a project that he asserted was blessed by the Chinese government and that was partnering with a Chinese telecommunications firm sanctioned by the US government.

On Friday morning, the Washington Post, which obtained the same documents, broke the news of Manafort’s involvement in this endeavor.

Manafort was Trump’s campaign manager for part of 2016—until Trump dumped him after allegations emerged that Manafort had pocketed $12.7 million in undisclosed cash payments a few years earlier from a pro-Russia political party in Ukraine. (His lawyer denied he had received this money.) Two years later, as a result of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of the Trump-Russia scandal, Manafort was found guilty of and pleaded guilty to assorted financial crimes related to his consulting work in Ukraine, including bank fraud and conspiring to defraud the United States. He was sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison and sent off to the hoosegow. (He was released to home confinement during the Covid pandemic.) In 2020, a bipartisan report from the Senate Intelligence Committee declared Manafort a “grave counterintelligence threat,” revealing that during the 2016 race he had repeatedly passed Trump campaign inside information to a former business associate who was a “Russian intelligence officer” and a “Kremlin agent.” In his final weeks in the White House, Trump pardoned Manafort.

In the years since Trump cleaned his slate, Manafort has mostly maintained a low public profile. During part of that stretch, he privately endeavored to facilitate a huge deal in China. Emails and memos show that in May 2022 Manafort was working with a privately-held Hong Kong-based company called Standard Huaxia Limited to set up a new streaming company in China dubbed Doorways. Manafort and his colleagues were looking to raise an initial $25 million for the project that Manafort noted was seeking $250 million.

Snip…

This memo stated the “Chinese Govt has agreed to endorse and support the development of Doorways in a variety of ways with the plan to take the company public within 18 months from launch,” and it maintained, “Doorways will be the first [joint venture] Chinese-American company to be involved in ownership and operation of a major internet vehicle in China.”

Still weaseling to make money for the vilest, Manafort will find a way to crawl back into his pardoner’s pocket.

They're already blaming each other as traitors, rhinos, Democrats in disguise, cowards, Russian, Ukrainian, Iranian, Palestinian, and Chinese plants.

Not to mention how their Ultra, RW, Evangelicals, are swearing to never vote for anyone who demand the death penalty for abortionists or people who use the services of abortionists, or people who assist women to have abortions.

It's downright inspiring to watch the True Believers turn their once slightly respectable party over to the likes of Trump, MTG, Kristi Noem,, Matt Gaetz, and other obvious misfits, criminals, and blockheads.

After this year, they'll be spending more yeas trying to decide who's the new star by continuing to stab each other with dogma and threats.

The entire Party is in a downward spiral. Fuck 'em, I don't care. They absolutely deserve this.

Takes more than a few weeks to scale up. Resources, key people, advertising are not always available. Maybe Trump thinks it's 2016? I mean here comes Manafort.

Sure, x45 is wounded politically, and he's severely damaged by the ongoing criminal trial. But even if he's convicted, he's still a danger. People get bitten by dead snakes.

The purpose after all is not to win, it's to destroy elections once and for all. So you plan to lose, then you riot, litigate, rebel, revolt. I think the trajectory is clear from past events.

He doesn’t care if he wins or loses. Maybe he thinks there’s no chance of losing so he doesn’t even consider it. Or if he loses he’s still got his microphone and millions of dupes to continue to shake down. Or if he loses he’s gonna stoke riots and violence and somehow that gets him back in ?? And I doubt he believes he’ll ever spend a nano-second in jail. All friggin’ crazy ideas but he’s friggin’ batshit crazy. Maybe he has stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer and knows he has limited time (a boy can dream).

By October, gasoline will be $6.00 a gallon, unemployment will be up, the market will be down , and the TV will be full of "Look at what Biden has done to us; we told you! " Don't underestimate the power of big money to manipulate the economy for their own purposes.

The Republican god will probably call down fires, hurricanes, famine and locust on us too, and of course it will be all Joe's fault.
