(328 posts)No one in the world wants to live under that kind of hate and state control.
Except the Republicans. They are on their knees to fugging Russia. What a disgrace.

(47,889 posts)had to live in Russia under Putin, they'd feel much differently. It is easy to be pro-Putin thousands of miles away in a democracy.

Putie has no use for these clowns once he's taken control of the US levers of power.
He already dispatches many of his "favorite" oligarchs and generals. Doesn't need more boot-licking toadies.
And Hair Trump? Fell out of his "Freedom Aeroflot" in an unfortunate accident. All of his children and sidekicks also. Strangely Melania was welcome in Moscow and given a Medal Of Honor .

(47,889 posts)Once all those useful idiots are no longer useful, they become disposable.
As for Trump, I don't think Putin could tolerate him for very long. Yeah, lots of unfortunate accidents for the Trump family.
Ha, ha, Melania getting the Medal of Honor!!!

(1,008 posts)So it should come as no surprise that Georgians know what Russia is, just as the Polish and Ukrainians do.

(51,123 posts)given that you seem to be chastising others for not doing such things.
Why don't you share with us the things you are doing to end those oppressions so we can all follow your lead?

(15,602 posts)The US media concentrates on what it thinks its clientele might actually care about.
Depending on the media, some of their clients won't even know the bordering countries to the US - other than they are full of vermin, etc.
Some other media may a several second segment on something if it is titillating, horrible, cute animals/babies.
Very few will dig into an international story long enough to explore multiple perspectives on the issues. And even this description I just made will cause Joe The Plumber to fall asleep.
that's a question mark

and screaming mad. If Russia tries a repeat of sending troops in, it looks like Geortians are about ready to take a page out of the Ukrainian playbook and start throwing rocks, bricks, and pavement at them.
The tighter Putin's grip gets, the more things start to slip through his fingers.
ETAL: Natasha (Natasha's Adventures) hasn't posted about this, although she does mention it halfway through this video:

(2,079 posts)The non Russian coalition of Georgia is the largest non western supporter of Ukraine with boots on the ground there fighting the Russians side by side with the Ukrainians. As we all know the caucuses have been and are still an ethnic tinderbox. But unlike the 90's when the Russian lid was just lifted off the steaming pot and the west fucked up and under estimated the vacuum that created the genocidal cruelty that had been checked with an ever heavier hand of decades of Soviet cruelty there may be opportunity for these countries to unite against a common foe now that they've tasted the possibilities of democracy before it was pounded underground by Putin and his puppets. As has been through history these areas are once again going to play very important roles as the geopolitical power flux that began in the 90's with the fall of the Soviet Union (and our complete and total fucked up response) continues to rearrange itself like the continental plates drifting across the globe.

(46,206 posts)Putin has his hands full with Ukraine. How in hell is he going to take over another country?
Hooray for the Georgians. I hope they are successful in turning him back.

(12,721 posts)Russia has its hands full with UKR. If there were 2-3 NEW fronts they'd be stretched even thinner. Although our resources have been exposed as being very thin as well. It takes time to rebuild the production capacity we USED to have.

(3,528 posts)Insurgents, gueriilas, and local militias in Georgia could make for a very sticky front on the coast of the Black Sea. With Sevastopol and the whole of the Crimean penn. between the two, going north becomes the only entry/exit to Sevastopol should that come to pas, creating very easy, obvious supply/resupply targets for Kiev.

(207,768 posts)When I was in Georgia, it was then Soviet Georgia. I noticed there were a number of statues of Stalin, which confused me, since at the time I thought he was in dishonor. So I asked and was told that Stalin was Georgian, not Russian, and he was venerated there because "he killed so many Russians."

(8,708 posts)This is just the beginning. Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Chechnya, , , they all want to break loose. All of the '-istans.' And when the Russian Army is brought west and south to meet these challenges, who will be protecting the north and east of Russia? You now, China still disputes Russian control of Siberia, which was annexed from China.
