Jesse James Rumson was convicted Friday of assaulting Prince George’s County Cpl. Scott Ainsworth, a lifelong Republican who testified about the Jan. 6 riot during Rumson's trial last week.

Ainsworth testified that it was difficult to come to grips with being attacked by members of his own party. “I’m a Republican, these are my fellow Republicans,” he said, adding that some of the Republicans in his life now want nothing to do with him because of his service on Jan. 6, 2021.

“Are you crazy?” Ainsworth recalled thinking of those in the GOP who support what happened on Jan. 6. “This was stupid, it was not necessary.”

Rumson opted for a bench trial before U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, a Donald Trump appointee who has been one of the most lenient judges for Jan. 6 defendants. Nichols is responsible for rejecting the obstruction of an official proceeding charge that has been used against hundreds of Jan. 6 rioters, an issue which is now pending before the Supreme Court.

A Lecanto man known as “Sedition Panda” for his alleged role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection is now setting his sights on the Citrus County Commission.

Jesse Rumson filed paperwork with the Citrus County Supervisor of Elections as a Republican in County Commission District 5. Republican incumbent Holly Davis hasn’t announced her intentions for 2024 but has told friends she plans to seek re-election to a second term.

Rumson was arrested in February on numerous federal charges, including obstruction of law enforcement during an official proceeding and assaulting police officers.

The Justice Department said Rumson was among a mob that illegally massed near a Senate door. When rioters successfully broke open the Capitol parliamentary door, Rumson was seen wearing a panda headpiece and running from the Senate wing door.

He later was seen in the crowd outside the Senate wing door, where Rumson was heard shouting, “Get a ram.”

Citrus County, FL.

We have a very active Democratic party and Democratic Women's Club. But the best we can do is get Dems elected in non-partisan races.

County has gone so red that the Republican party split and now there is a "Trump Club," because the whacko Republicans weren't crazy enough.
