"SNIP............

A growing percentage of voters in key swing states express confidence in Vice President Kamala Harris’ ability to serve as president if President Joe Biden cannot complete his term, potentially diminishing a Republican critique concerning Mr. Biden’s age.

A poll conducted by Morning Consult for Bloomberg News earlier this month reveals that nearly half of swing state voters—48 percent—now trust Ms. Harris to assume the presidency if necessary.

.............

Despite this, Ms. Harris still lags significantly behind her and Mr. Biden’s likely Republican opponent, former president Donald Trump, in a hypothetical matchup. The poll shows Mr. Trump leading Ms. Harris by seven points.

Nonetheless, respondents favor Ms. Harris as their top choice to challenge Mr. Trump if Mr. Biden is unable to complete the 2024 campaign. She is preferred over other potential Democratic candidates such as Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.

Trump “served” four years and people are confident in Kamala Harris? Mike Pence, Dick Cheney, Dan bird man for junior. Spiro Agnew.

My confidence in VP Harris is off the charts where it should be.

She has matured as VP, and can easily handle the job if President Joe isn't able to.
A VP candidate should always be assessed for their capacity to step up, and she's certainly equal to the task.
Not that I want that to happen, but you have to think it through when you vote.
You're voting for two people, and two jobs, but the potential must be there for President.

Every other word is a hyperlink to unrelated articles from itself. The word "trust" links to Lupita Nyong’o's dating life rumors. A lot of the links in the article are just celebrity gossip.

So odd. Like it was half-written by AI.

No link to the poll, so I rummaged around. This article contains a link to the actual poll:

https://www.wispolitics.com/2024/bloomberg-news-morning-consult-poll-half-of-swing-state-voters-fear-violence-around-us-election/

It's 6,000 pages long, but I searched through. Where you look at potential Biden replacements, the lead answer in everyone else except Harris is Don't Know/No Opinion. On Harris, 45% support, 46% oppose, 9% don't know. Pritzker and Moore are at 50+% "don't know" with Buttigieg at 31%. So, the article is some spin for an answer that is more or less, "Voters split on the question, not sure who they'd support to replace Biden if it came to that."

Harris has the most recognition/most opinions given, so with her there's a clearer answer (which is tied). With the other candidates, people haven't really thought about it. You could easily rewrite the sentence to "Harris faces strongest opposition to replace Biden" and that would be equally true according to the data set. The next strongest overt opposition is Newsom at 38%, and even he has 31% "no opinion" on him.

The negatives are pretty high for Biden and the Dems, but WAY higher for trump and the GOP.

I remember years ago hearing people ask "is America ready for a Black President?" and my answer was "the rest of the world is long past ready for America to have a Black President, it's America that's behind". That's even more true for a woman President. America is an embarrassment to the West in that regard -- or a trophy on Putin's mantle, realistically.

48% is hitting it out of the park in this very cynical day and age when one sizeable portion of the electorate has put their faith in an multiply indicted conman and rapist.

I'm team Biden - and he wouldn't have selected her if he didn't think she was up to the formidable task.
