Donald Trump said Joan Rivers voted for him in 2016. She died in 2014🪦

Donald Trump claimed that Joan Rivers voted for him in 2016, despite the comedian having died two years earlier.

The former US president and recently convicted felon was interviewed by Variety editor Ramin Setoodeh last November for a new book about his time hosting The Apprentice, Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass, which is set to be published on June 18.

In the book, Trump discusses Rivers, who won the second season of Celebrity Apprentice in 2009.

“I thought she might have been a Republican,” Trump said. “I know one thing: she voted for me, according to what she said.”

This claim is impossible as Trump first stood for election on November 8, 2016. Rivers died on September 4, 2014 at the age of 81.

I never understood it. I remember seeing Joan Rivers out on the street selling cupcakes. Why she wanted to be an apprentice at her age, I'll never understand.
Why it would be called Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass? Who knows.
But then I didn't like Trump even then. I could see the sadistic way he treated people.

Through the looking glass has the strongest commentary on contemporary Republican politics out there:

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean – neither more nor less.”

in the middle of a recession turned me off completely.

Plus, that's not what being an apprentice is all about. Being an apprentice means that you are carefully trained and mentored through a profession, not that you're competing with a bunch of other people then kicked to the curb. Trust Trump to be associated with something that completely twists the meaning of an honorable term.

which is what the regular or celebrity contestants were.

I never much cared for reality shows in the first place so I didn’t watch “The Apprentice”. But I agree, it wasn’t really in good taste to have a jerk like Trump “firing” people for cruel laughs while the U.S. was in a recession.

Good point there about the true meaning of an apprentice.
