I think it is pretty clear that Newt wanted the respectability of marriage for professional reasons but doens't want his professional life to interfere with his personal pleasures and he found (finally) someone as shallow, ambitious, and power hungry as himself in wife #3. She doesn't care if he fucks goats and children as long as he keeps her in the manner in which she demands and has come accustomed to.
