We keep on forgetting how Trump prides himself on ignoring the experts and the establishment whether it is COVID, foreign affairs, or even basic safety at his rallies that repeatedly puts people, including his most loyal supporters, in danger.

I am sure that the Trump campaign will insist that they are always concerned about safety and will comply with expert advice, but this just ignores the reality that Trump runs his campaign the same way he ran the country. We have already heard about how on January 6, Trump was incensed that his Secret Service agents were ignoring his orders to take him to the Capitol so that he can help lead the insurrection that he incited. Why should we think that the Trump campaign is suddenly willing to abide by expert advice regarding safety and security Trump's history?

Hundreds of Trump supporters stuck on freezing cold Omaha airfield after rally, 7 taken to hospitals

Hundreds of President Donald Trump's supporters were left in the freezing cold for hours after a rally at an airfield in Omaha, Nebraska, on Tuesday night, with some walking around 3 miles to waiting buses and others being taken away in ambulances.

Seven people were taken to hospitals suffering from a variety of conditions, and a total of 30 were "contacted" for medical reasons, the Omaha Police Department said in a statement. The Omaha Airport Authority had a slightly different figure for the number taken to hospitals — it said six were "throughout the duration of the event" and added that it could not confirm that the people were taken to hospitals because of the cold.

The temperature in the area was in the mid-30s at the time but as low as 27 degrees with wind chill.

Several people waiting outside reportedly fainted from the heat, according to ABC News. Firefighters were observed treating people with ice packs, with 11 people being transported to the hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The National Weather Service had forecast record-breaking temperatures in the region for Thursday. An excessive heat warning was administered for Phoenix through Friday, with residents being urged to limit outdoor activities.

The incident came two days after 30 rallygoers in Omaha, Nebraska, needed medical attention after transportation issues resulted in hundreds of attendees being stuck for hours in the freezing cold. Officials said seven were taken to area hospitals with a variety of ailments.

In Nebraska, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Sunday night in Georgia, buses struggled to move crowds away from rally sites and through traffic. And after one rally, supporters were left to fend for themselves in freezing temperatures.

For months, the Trump campaign has bussed supporters from parking lots to rally sites as a way to accommodate the large crowds. The events have been held in locations such as small airports that don’t normally draw rally-sized crowds and often don’t have onsite parking available to support the crush of people and crowds.

A number of people were hospitalized during former President Donald Trump's campaign rally in Las Vegas on Sunday following similar heat-related issues during an event in Phoenix, Arizona.

The presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee took to the stage in the key swing state of Nevada on Sunday amid a heat wave across western parts of the United States. The temperature in Las Vegas reached around 105 degrees Fahrenheit that day.

The Clark County Fire Department said six people were taken to a hospital, while another 24 received medical attention on site. The Associated Press (AP) reported that "most, if not all," of the calls they responded to were due to the heat. A further 97 people utilized the cooling tents emergency services set up on-site to help with the extreme heat.

Last week, the heat wave also caused 11 people who were waiting to see Trump speak in Phoenix to need hospital treatment.

6. People collapse from heat exhaustion at rallies all the time, not just Trump's

I remember several times in 2008 and 2016 where people passed out at Democratic campaign rallies. One Clinton rally in particular (can't remember if it was in 2008 or 2016) where she stopped speaking and asked if someone passed out, then directed everyone to move away and for the person to be given water and medical assistance - she handled it really well. That was one of several instances of someone passing out at a summer rally due to heat exhaustion. It's kind of inevitable in many places, because the places large enough to hold big crowds often lack shade, you have to get there hours before the candidate due to security protocols and candidates always running behind, etc. If the Trump campaign didn't have personnel on-site to provide medical assistance, that's certainly a problem, but people pass out at campaign rallies for other candidates too.

That said, any investigation into the Secret Service and local law enforcement's failure to protect Trump on Saturday should definitely include looking at whether his campaign refused to cooperate or rejected any suggestions from the Secret Service or local police.

For example, how do you defend Trump’s decision to hold campaign rallies in the midst of COVID, which lead to supporters getting severely sick. I don’t recall this happening with Biden or Harris.

The point is that Trump’s campaign has a clear history of holding rallies in manner that ignores the dangers to attendees.

It is a bit of a false equivalency to say that someone fainted at an Obama rally, so it is all the same.
