Should Joe Biden step down? (Poll)

We, the voters of the Democratic Party, are being gaslighted.

The debate was an excuse, as another poster put it so well.

The media is amplifying the division and uncertainty like a wall of sound at a Stones concert.

I am stunned by some of the names I hear calling for this and predicting defeat.

Some of these seem to be willing to throw us to the tender mercies of a newly empowered Trump, as long as it means they get more cash from donors to stay in office.

They don't seem to believe that once Trump establishes himself, in a short time, I'm guessing within a year, there will be no opposition left to speak of, including them.

It is demoralizing to come here and see all the "goodbye Joe Biden" threads.

I believe the majority here feel the same way.

Let's find out.

For example, 16 polls have been conducted in Pennsylvania over the last 90 days. In those polls, Trump is averaging +4.5 (above the average margin of error for those polls). In Arizona, Trump is now averaging +6.0 (above the MOE). In Nevada, Trump's average is +5.1 (above the MOE). In North Carolina, Trump's average is +5.7 (above the MOE). In Georgia, Trump's average is +4.0 (above the MOE). In Wisconsin, Trump is now at +3.4, having led in 8 of the last 9 polls conducted there. To add insult to injury, the last two Virginia polls show Trump with a small lead in that state. There isn't any good news in any of these numbers.

This isn't only about Biden's candidacy anymore. He would need to resign the presidency immediately to give Kamala a chance to hold the incumbency advantage. Such a move would likely create further chaos and upheaval, undermining the desired calmness sane people prefer to see in the federal government.

It seems like suicide to have him drop off at this point in the race, but when you hear (or don’t hear) all of the leaders of the party hinting or not saying anything you’d figure that they know something we don’t know. I’m no expert.

If we put another poll up here in an hour, and asked the same question without the preamble, we'd get the same result.

Ideally, one asked by someone who is seen as impartial.

It's possible that the results would be the same. But there's a reason reputable polls don't begin by saying "The Democratic Party is full of evil baby killers who hate sunshine and happiness. Now, in the upcoming election, which of the following candidates do you prefer ... ?"

22. The problem isn't Biden, it's our inability to unite around him.

We can stick by Biden all day long, but if at least 95% of Democrats are not right there with us, we lose. When we're united and in lockstep, the media follows and voters follow. So getting our own house in order is the most important thing that is needed to win.

There are three factions right now:
1: Those who absolutely and unconditionally support Biden
2: Those who absolutely want a replacement (most elected Democrats?)
3: Those who just want to win, regardless of who the candidate is

Faction 2 isn't budging and they're not going to. They don't do the unconditional blind support thing. They see what they see and it's hard to dispute what they're saying because they're right: Biden is old. On TV at times he looks around 90 years old. Faction 2 members are terrified whenever Biden speaks instead of just relaxing and going with the flow and excusing away any gaffes the way we've done for years.

So now the question is, are Factions 1 and 2 willing to ENTHUSIASTICALLY unite around Kamala Harris?

Either way, this is a fucked up situation. Biden has more physical symptoms of aging because of how hard he works everyday. His immense knowledge and wisdom is still there but people are complaining about the presentation.

However, to appease donors, I would be ok with Biden stating clearly, once again, that he is currently fit to serve; citing his accomplishments and daily tasks, routines, and schedule which he adheres to, BUT if the time comes during his next term that he can no longer perform the duties of the Presidency (not because of snapshot poll numbers or financial backers' demands), he will resign with dignity and grace for serving this great Nation as is his duty.

I'm not giving up on Joe! As I said in another post, this is a President who has accomplished so many good things for ALL Americans. I have wracked my brains for any combination that would have a greater probability of success than Biden/Harris. Dems need to shut down this equivalent of a cafeteria food fight and hammer the message in those states we need to win. We have Joe and Kamala, the other side has a convicted felon who has the IQ of a kumquat and Pennywise the Clown as his running mate.
