We cant concede those votes. Harris will do well with suburban white women but I think we need a very strong labor VP from PA or Midwest to help with white male voters.
Ive been pulling for Shapiro and he would still be great. However, Im moving more and more to Tim Walz.
Im not sure Cooper or Bashear would be comfortable at labor rallies or comforting to the hard hats. As an ex-teacher, Tim also boosts suburban woman vote even more.
As Im writing this, Im seeing more and more potential for Walz. Comfortable in his own skin, pro-Union, a mind-your-own-business slogan that is greatly reassuring to all women.
Has shown his face repeatedly on national TV. makes for good tv.
Thoughts?

(55,160 posts)That was the strength of Joe Biden, as the election neared he moved to the middle. I don't think he was up to the campaign this year though, voters' tastes and age preferences changed. In my view the whole ticket needs to move to the middle a bit. Let's not make it 2016 again.

(9,914 posts)He and Kamala are good friends, and she trusts him. He's very laid back south, in a lot of ways, and I'm not sure he would help create the excitement we've got going. Walz and Shapiro are both really good picks. Kelly is great! But we need our senators where they are now. The Senate will be key to getting the supreme court straightened out, as well as the rest of the Harris agenda.
That said, I'd love to see Kelly as the new Senate Majority Leader. It's time for Chuck Schumer to step back. I love him as a leader and senator, but he needs to pass the torch while he's still there to bounce things off of for a new leader.

(7,964 posts)Harris actually looks younger than her stated age and has a young voice. Nature is cruel sometimes.

Assuming Wikipedia is correct.
I looked it up because I didn't realize Kamala was that close to 60.
Not a problem for me.
Apparently Kamala presents as younger than she is, and and Walz presents as older than he really is.
I think the ticket works, but it doesn't help us win a state - we probably get Minnesota anyway. Still might be worth it for the overall capability and attraction that Walz brings.

(19,156 posts)It's not a terrible idea to have a balanced ticket.
And he's not really that old - only 60.
