I was a Clinton delegate to the 2016 National Convention. At that Convention, we heard Michelle Obama, President Obama, Joe Biden, former AG Holder, John Lewis and a host of other major Democratic Party figures in addition a great speech by Hillary. I still remember Bill Clinton playing after the balloon drop.
Here is part of the line up for next week's convention

President Joe Biden, former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have been confirmed as speakers at the convention. Obama and the Clintons delivered speeches during the 2020 DNC, which was largely held virtually to prevent the spread of Covid-19 amid the pandemic.
A source familiar said that former President Jimmy Carters grandson Jason Carter is also confirmed to be speaking as a representative for his grandfather.
We also had Katy Perry perform a couple of times. I am wondering who will be performing for this convention. I love to see Beyonce and maybe Taylor Swift perform.

(4,672 posts)The focus of the campaign is the future not the past. Biden has to speak because he is the POTUS. Obama is still modern and popular with the electorate.
But the Clintons? I don't get it. I hope it's not in primetime.
I would much rather see the primetime spots filled with young energetic battleground governors from Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Arizona.

Looking towards the future doesn't mean we throw out the past.

(2,009 posts)The most qualified person to have run for president in the last 50 years, and was absolutely screwed by a sexist system in general (oh no, she didnt smile enough. Oh no, she sounded shrill. Oh no, she didnt have the right hair cut.) and by Donald Trump himself who is once again on the ticket- its totally appropriate for her to be there to cheer Kamala Harris on! So happy she is!!!

(4,672 posts)Hillary was robbed. I am still don't like a system where you can get nearly 3 million more votes than your opponent and NOT be declared the winner. I am with you 100%.
My issue is winning. I want to win. And like it or not, she is not popular in the places we MUST WIN.
Secondly, IMHO, this election comes down to suburban women. I hope to see a convention where women are featured prominently. I think Bill Clinton and his history "kills" some of that vibe.
Harris is better off charting a new path. HER PATH. That is how we win.

(77 posts)To what happens if you vote third party, stay at home or just don't support the ticket for whatever reason. This mentality gave us Trump and before that Bush 2.
Hillary should also be honored for being the first woman to be nominated for president and for helping to set things up for Harris to break the glass ceiling once and for all.

At the GOP convention, TFG had Kid Rock perform at this same time slot. I will take Beyonce over Kid Rock any day of the week.
