"The way he went after the 'elite media' was just BRILLIANT, really, and he's reaping the rewards"

WaPo's Eugene Robinson on "Hardball," referring to Newt's reaction to the "open marriage" question during the opening of last night's debates.

Howard Finemann referred to it as "catnip" to the base, well-rehearsed, carefully avoiding an actual response to the question, a "cock fight" that tickled the kind of Republicans who inhabit South Carolina. Also said he made himself an object of pity, referring to the "pain" he's been subjected to, with no reference to the pain he's inflicted on others.
