So, Vance lives a mile from me here in the DMV. His neighborhood is called Del Ray. His home is surrounded by literally hundreds of Harris-Walz signs including a huge one that says "Keep JD in Del Ray." I'll try for some pics.

(3,598 posts)If you got laid up with a broken leg and couldn't mow your lawn:
Tim Walz is the guy who'd come over to mow your lawn for you.
JD Vance is the guy who'd file a complaint with the Homeowners' Association.

(1,773 posts)He's a neighbor. Vance is a destroyer. More of the likes of him and this country is doomed. More of Tim, we're all happy, have nice yards, and want to hang out and cook some hot dogs.

(38,377 posts)Most people in Congress either do that or rent (sometimes with Congressional roommates) as close as they can afford to their offices.

(2,409 posts)Del Ray (which is in Alexandria) has the reputation of being a quirky neighborhood with lots of funky restaurants, quaint, charming houses, and a live and let live mindset. JD Vance would not seem to fit in at all, although his wife certainly might. The neighbors probably werent happy when they closed a family park near Vances house and put up concrete barriers. But its the perfect location for quick access to DC and National Airport, which is probably why Vance chose it.
My husband and I checked out Del Ray a million years ago when we were buying our first house in Virginia. We both loved the area, but ultimately decided to move further out to a more suburban environment.

(3,598 posts)When push comes to shove, Vance sides with childless cat ladies (who are not inconvenienced by this closing) over families with children (who are).
