So I "took action" today

I know I'm supposed to "take action". But I live in a red state and besides my yard signs, I'm not sure I can do much to influence our elections. BUT.... I'm a 65 year old man that is "friendly" with a 30 year old bartender. Yes, it's a strange, but not creepy, relationship. But I put it all on the line when I said I needed to have a "serious" discussion. Her boyfriend slash fiance ( he just hasn't asked yet) is Ukrainian. His parents are still there. His Uncle is still there. So I asked her, are you registered to vote?

Yes, she said. So I asked if she understood both the importance of the presidential election and our Senator to the Congress was about this issue. No, she responded that kinda blew me away, but did say she needed to hear more. So I quickly explained the choices. But more importantly, I explained that she needed to discuss this with her Ukrainian boyfriend. And I told her that she needs to explain to her boyfriend that Trump will give away their country, and Kamala will defend it. Kinda a one issue voter situation.

But then I went a step further. She's all of 30 years old. And as many, she's apolitical But I thought on this issue I could get her interest elevated. So then I said, when you decide, maybe you can talk to your 22 year old or so fellow servers and talk about how important it is to you and your boyfriend and get them to vote too.

So I plan on going in every week or more over the next 6 weeks, to speak to them and encourage them to both vote, and basically vote blue (although it will probably be more about voting Ukraine.) It's how I am going to "do something" even though it's a deep red state. Ya know, maybe I can influence a down ticket race or something.
