In Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky...

we are far from the nucleus of Helene but it will be touching us. We are predicted to get bands of rain as a result. This is much needed (but not the flash flooding). Before early this week are were mired in a bad drought. We made up a little of our rain deficit earlier in the week.

The big problem is the wind. We are to get wind gusts up to 50 - 60 mph. Some of the weaker trees as a result of the drought may fall and power lines may also do the same. Some of the weekend festivities in Cincinnati have been cancelled for Friday, since we have all day Saturday and Sunday to celebrate. We were looking at attending one of the smaller Octoberfests in the area today but it may not happen. That is a relatively minor inconvenience.

We can't complain. We are and will be in much better shape than our neighbors to the South, but I can't help thinking about the remnants of Hurricane Ike 15 years ago and how we were without power for 3 days. Hope we don't get a repeat.
