The Worst Shutdown In History is Coming Tomorrow Oct 1

Sec. Of Transportation, Buttigieg has been on top of this issue, but the smell of Trump is all over this and I believe he has been working with the USMX to not negotiate with the ILA union, which will effectively lead to a strike and therefore shutdown of every port on the East Coast and the Gulf Coast. This will create shortages and price spikes due to limited supplies. Remember COVID with shortages on toilette paper? This will be worse. I hope the Harris campaign is ready for the messaging on this.

... that his load of fire windows were on the truck - the trailer being stuck on a flat car in some yard a 1000 miles from each of us and was not a thing I could do about it. I did not ask for the train to haul these, but ABF decided it would be cheaper even if it was guaranteed to take a week longer from Nebraska to La by doing it. Ended up taking a month to get there. From then on I made sure to explicitly forbid the trains.

The big problem with negotiating is that a huge majority of lines are owned by one extremely secretive owner who scrubs the net rather well. I couldn't find him online easliy today, but I will try again later. He's an extremely conservative who believes workers are trying to make him poor. He was a major supporter of TFG. He believes in more equiptment and isn't overly concerned with track conditions.

He's one of those invisible hands of fate for workers.

Fossil Fuel interests are still opposed to all things rail and freight services are included.

It's a hot mess for both freight and passenger services in my region and an overhaul is needed to make both more effective and efficient.

His dad was a gandy-dancer for the Pennsylvania until he was seriously hurt. Thank the Lord for the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. My mom's Uncle was Yard Master for the Erie Lackawanna yard in Akron, I have two cousins who retired from one of the east/west lines in Ohio, one a track-man, the other a signalman (PennCentral or the C&O). All these lines have been assorbed into new combine lines.

Lots of railroaders in Ohio!

I have no doubt Trump will be encouraging owners to not negotiate. He’s willing to burn the country down to save his own fat ass.

We have been through many and survived. Harris doesn't have to explain anything. This post seems divisive.
