(1,516 posts)That just figures. I haven't yet seen the story this is in reference to, but I would have been really shocked if he'd been serving food to actual customers. The idea of him doing ANYTHING that involves being of service to ANYONE in ANY way is impossible to imagine.

(602 posts)Unless Trump was personally tested and shown to be free of tuberculosis and possibly some other contagious diseases, he would not be cleared to work in a public kitchen. Since I can't imagine Trump bothering to be examined by real doctors, McDonalds would not be allowed to have him cook or serve at one of its restaurants.

(7,760 posts)Got a pan of lasagna in the oven that's got my attention. Did the campaign actually PAY the Mcdonald's to close... including the salaries of those who were suppose to working? And did they do it *in advance* of the stunt?

(196,166 posts)It wasnt her law school application, I think it was for a position during or just after law school. It was an AHA! moment in RW circles that has been repeatedly and is now legend and lore there.

(25,763 posts)law school matter on a resume for legal work? If it was a summer job in a law office, yes. But I can easily see why it would be left off of a resume in order to give space highlighting college and law school activities and achievements more pertinent to the work she was seeking.
These fools would be better off checking the details of Trump's claims regarding business achievements.

(27,192 posts)That said that orange fata$$ never worked a minimum wage job I his life so he has no idea what real people struggle with making ends meet. I worked my way through college and paid for my books and tuition. My parents paid for my dorm. The orange one never worked a hard day in his life. For him to insult VP Harris who worked hard to get where she is, is disgusting.

Even by Trump standards, this has become rather creepy.

Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump declared, never worked at McDonalds. It was a fake story. It was a fake story; the press now refuses to write it because its so, you know, this is a simple one. She said she worked at McDonalds and she didnt. ... It was a lie. She never worked at McDonalds over the hot french fries.
The GOP candidate quickly added that he plans to go to a McDonalds in two weeks its always two weeks, isnt it? and he intends to work the french fries. Trump concluded, I will have worked longer and harder at McDonalds than she did if I do that even for half an hour.
If the rhetoric seemed at all familiar, its because Trump has been obsessed to an unhealthy degree with the vice president having worked at McDonalds as a college student.......
In other words, with fewer than six weeks before Election Day, the Republican nominee appears to be focused at least as much on this issue as anything else.
That, of course, is utterly bonkers, in part because theres literally no evidence that Harris lied, in part because Trump hasnt even tried to substantiate his attack with anything other than repetition, and in part because his obsession isnt likely to move the electoral needle.
The broader circumstances, meanwhile, continue to be noteworthy. The Democratic nominee has been involved in public service for decades, working as a prosecutor, a state attorney general, a U.S. senator, and a vice president. If the GOP candidate and his team are eager to scrutinize her record, there should be plenty of accurate things to choose from.
So why is it that Trump has relied so heavily on made-up nonsense? If Harris is as bad as her partisan critics claim, why cant Trump simply tell the truth and shift his focus away from her college-era fast-food experience?

These jobs weren't listed on my resume.
I don't think anyone who does odd jobs to survive while in school deem it necessary to mention it when applying for more professional employment.

(2,109 posts). . . who fired people for a living, Trump ideally also would have been involved in hiring them as well.
Therefore, he should have some understanding of the templates and guidelines for putting together a resume.
Putting every picayune job one ever had on a resume makes a person look desperate and lacking in judgment. All the job-seeking experts tell people to keep their experience listings short and tailored to the specific job one is seeking. Trump would know that if he had ever composed his own resume in the hopes of being noticed and considered for a serious, well-earning position.
However, Donald Trump never had to compete for an important job along side of hundreds of other eager, hopeful people trying to make their way in the world. Every job Donald Trump ever had was a shoe-in handed to him thanks to nepotism or cronyism.
The man doesn't know how to look for a real job, much less do one. He's got some instincts for how to present himself and that's about it. For years now, he's been presenting himself as the champion of the common man and he knows that working at McDonald's fits into that narrative, that's why he's hitting Harris on that claim. It's relatable and he wants to deny his opponent any points gained from having that experience as part of her backstory.
He also wants to deny Harris the cultural appeal that can be garnered from being a minority and struggling against oppression. There's value in that narrative, so Trump talks about her "turning Black" in order to diminish the challenges that she has overcome. It's also why he tries to claim affinity with Black men in this country who are over policed, thus bragging that his criminal charges and convictions makes him more popular with that demographic.
It's really kind of tragically funny the way that he bends over backwards trying to make it seems as though he understands people from all walks of life, when it's clear that he doesn't even really understand himself.
Oh, and by the way, I worked in a fast food restaurant when I was 18 or 19, and I have never included it on any resume, ever-- even when I filled out an application for Walmart. Those forms don't include enough space to go that far back into your work history. Naturally, Trump has no idea about that.
And as proof of how much has just been handed to him, consider that he got a major network gig without having to sit through a single casting call, then he became the President of the United States without holding any previous political or legislative position.
The man has never paid his dues in any way, shape or form.
