1. German Generals were hamstrung by loyalty

Loyalty as the preferred quality in military personnel is fully misguided. The Fuehrerprinzip made it difficult to change tactics, from the staff room to the battlefield. Not being able to adapt meant that German soldiers could not respond to American soldiers, who were encouraged to think in the field, working with their NCOs and not dedicating themselves to be loyal to the leader.
