Here's all the tea leaves I need: McConnell openly attacking Trump

Internal polling for Trump must be so bad that McTurtle has no fear in openly going after him. If McConnell thought Trump was going to win, you know he would be balled up in his turtle shell and saying he backs the nominee for the party.

These comments could have been made years ago. So, there is no reading tea leaves or suspecting their internals are not good because these comments aren't recent.

4. This is a "to be released" book. It's relatively current.

And it's release sure wouldn't be announced now if McConnell was afraid it might damage a Republican he wanted to win. It's a clear signal that he doesn't want Trump to win, or he wouldn't have let this info get out.

This has nothing to do with internals. Regardless if he doesn't want Trump to win or not, no one can "read the tea leaves" and interpret that this means their internals show Trump down.
