(4,685 posts)I just bought a sewing machine and plan to take lessons for a bit before I can actually call sewing a hobby for myself. I'd love to say baking, but I'm a total flop at that - well we can categorize that as being creative because my 'products" of that are quite 'interesting.'
on edit: If you ask anyone who knows me, they would say daydreaming.

(14,376 posts)I've always got at least one project going. It's a repetitive motion and very meditative for me.

(4,401 posts)My current players include blue-collar Joes and Janes, Ph.Ds in cybersecurity, medical school students, college undergrads, award-winning marketing writers and designers, managerial types, and retirees. They are the nicest, smartest people to be around and try to outwit! The players are also a big help to each other for networking and providing support.

(37,759 posts)Seriously. And, contrary to conventional wisdom, theres a bunch of them. I have been pursuing it for decades. I really have a multi modal approach to the problem using research (patent searches), modeling, simulation, and experimentation. Currently, I am looking at carbon capture as an integral part of energy generation.
Of course, I have my rabbit holes like anyone else. Especially, during COVID. A friend of mine keeps trying to drag me into the issue of plastics.
Oh, and I crochet.

(3,070 posts)to keep as much going as I can. Most of my spare time is spent with the Church and outreach programs there, helping out elderly and disabled folks in whatever ways we can. Everything from property maint to grocery store runs, etc. I also have a lot of my own property that I have to maintain so there is never down time.
I also try to have alone time and I play several horns, guitar and drums. I'm most attached to guitar and drums at this point. I got a really nice Roland V-drum kit a few years back and I really enjoy it a lot since I can really get loud and no one can hear me getting wild in the basement (well a little but it's not obnoxiously loud). I also enjoy target shooting and fishing when weather allows for it.
