Majority Of USAID Money Has Gone To Ukraine, Which Rubio Has Opposed Funding

The Trump administration’s dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) follows the humanitarian agency giving Ukraine more funding in 2023 than to any other country, according to an online breakdown of the agency’s spending.
The nation’s primary international development and humanitarian assistance agency, whose goals include helping countries recover from disaster, reduce poverty and strengthen democratic governance, gave Ukraine more than $16 billion during its 2023 fiscal year, according to the most current figures available on the federal website Foreignassistance.gov.
That’s more than 60 percent of all U.S. foreign aid that’s listed on the website, according to a review by Statista.com
The agency’s dismantling follows Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has opposed future federal aid to Ukraine, freezing nearly all U.S. foreign assistance funded by or through USAID.
