Are we allowed to discuss Gov. Newsom's position on the trangendered athlete issue

My personal belief is that this discussion is a distraction. It is a big deal because Republicans want it to be a big deal and the more we stand around pissing each other off over issues that should really have nothing to do with anyone but the people involved, the more we are playing into GOP hands.

Trans people should not be discriminated against. It's that simple as far as I'm concerned. How politicians want to deal with the issue is up to them, and then voters will judge them accordingly. But we're not having discussions on the merits of whether trans people should be discriminated against at DU. So if the question is, "Can we argue about whether Gavin Newsom is right about trans people or not?" then I think yesterday's discussions proved that the answer is no.
