Elon Musk should be personally liable for fixing all the things he has broken. The costs of restarting programs, rehiring people, is going to be enormous, and the American people should not have to shoulder the costs. He should, as should Trump and every other billionaire who contributed to this.

And with the rulings of the past couple days telling them to re-hire people, has anyone ACTUALLY gone back to their job? THAT"S a big question!

(4,380 posts)breach of confidentiality is upsetting but in our everyday life in order to obtain a mortgage, car loan, new phone, connection to electrical services, bank accounts, medical care, etc., all oligarchs in charge of corporate entities that we turn to for these "necessities" already have this information.
What kind of information does DOGE have that the oligarchs in charge of these corporate entities do not already have?

(15,771 posts)If my student loans get messed with, I'm gonna fail pretty badly...also got a text my score went down, but I'm late on a payment so I didn't think much of it. Now I'm like... uh oh.
Thenm having this info is a sdone deal too. So even if it's ruled as "a violation of privacy"...what can we do about it? you can't put that kind of toothpaste back in the tube! He's already running algorithms all over our info!!!

A medical report is not needed to compile medical information. This can be done via the income data and data related to our household expenses.
Under Biden a bill was passed that omitted medical debt from credit reporting. Which means that credit reporting companies had access to the data it needed to profile your medical information, otherwise this law would not have been required.

(8,734 posts)Something entirely different. We don't know who these gamers are, what THEY might do with OUR information. There needs to be a full accounting of who they are and make them aware of what legal problems they, personally, may face if any of them misuse our data for whatever little ventures they might get into.

(4,380 posts)who did the hacking, what was the age of the hackers, and what the hackers did with the info???

(8,734 posts)and there have been more than a couple law suits where the entity that didn't protect customers' information have had monetary judgements levied and I personally know of some that had to enroll those customers in ID protection programs and the corporation's expense. Even the government OPM had to do that once; my husband's data was exposed and he had years of ID protection paid for because of the breech.

(8,734 posts)Which reminds me, I need to contract those 3 major credit reporting companies and put an order that NO new loans or credit cards be issued using my SS# and other data. If I need to get a loan at a later time, I can rescind my STOP order.

(417 posts)only SSA has EVERYTHING. You don't need to give up your birthday or SSN or mother's maiden name or bank account # for every product and service.
i leave blanks on forms all the time...no problem.

Judge Chuang: The Trump admin's "actions harmed not only Plaintiffs, but also the public interest, because they deprived the public's elected representatives in Congress of their constitutional authority to decide whether, when, and how to close down an agency created by Congress."

BREAKING:
A federal judge just found Elon Musk and DOGE likely violated the Constitution when they unilaterally acted to shut USAID.
Judge Chuang blocked the Trump admin from taking action relating to the shut down of USAID and ordered Musk and DOGE to reinstate systems access to USAID employees.

(5,619 posts)The destruction of USAID represented many facets of the objectives of their take over, and of muskRAT's agenda.
The repercussions can't be undone. People died.
Now what? I look forward to hearing more about the judge's order.
