new MSNBC show on weekends? The more I hear her, the more I appreciate her quick wit and commentary. You go, Melissa!

(3,690 posts)Not strident. Able to present both sides, and why. I would go so far as to call it a crush.

(146,288 posts)her ability to grab onto the heart of many issues is what I like most. It's a refreshing change from the current male lineup on the network. Not that there's anything wrong with the guys on MSNBC, but it seems to be much of the same old thing coming from them, most of the time. Maybe it's her youth and energy, or just her obvious intelligence, but I enjoy hearing what she has to say and how she conducts an interview, too. It will be good for her to have her own show.

I work in UC Berkeley and know whereof I speak.

(146,288 posts)of students is great training. I'm sure she's a very popular professor at Tulane.

(63,912 posts)panelist as well. Enough of having just one lone woman on these talk panels! Both women today were brilliant in their areas of expertise. It was refreshing.
Melissa is also quite lovely. I was watching her speak and I was struck by her great beauty as well as her intellect and delivery.
Wouldn't you love to audit one of her courses down at Tulane? I would!

(15,438 posts)She's wonderful, intelligent, has a strong grasp of the issues, articulate, gorgeous, fearless but always with a disarming smile, and quick of wit.
She's a joy and a pleasure to watch when I see her on Rachel's, Al's, Ed's, and Lawrence's show. The woman is fantastic and I can't wait to see her show.

(146,288 posts)I noticed about her when she's been on panel discussions. That's going to serve her well in interview segments. It's her "Wait...what...?" expression, and it does tend to stop people in the middle of any bullshit they're trying to get away with, I've noticed.

(63,912 posts)Exactly the way I felt too. Sometimes, I want to reach into the TV and grab some of these talking heads and shake them real hard...

(5,376 posts)She has all the positive qualities mentioned in the other posts, and her perspective and ability to articulate the truth are spot on. A great addition to the MSNBC lineup!
MineralMan
(146,288 posts)I think. Like Chris Hayes, it brings a different perspective and, perhaps, a fresh audience to MSNBC's lineup. I'm getting a little weary of seeing so many guys my age on political panels. While they bring a longer perspective on history, they're not connecting as well with what should be the audience. That's not to say that this new group is made up of kids, but they're also not weary-looking, like some of the geezers my age are. Just saying...

(1,435 posts)I like Chris' wonky show as well, but wish he didn't talk so fast. Melisa will have a great show, too bad she will be up against the
network sunday shows.
CTyankee
(63,912 posts)(I live in New Haven around lots of Yalies). I had noticed that in interviews Jodie Foster speaks that way and sure enough, I found out that she went to Yale...
but now I just think it's the wonk in these folks. They have brains that "get it" so fast that the words just tumble out of their mouths...
I must say, on the wonk issue, that it is a pleasure to hear the advanced vocabulary of the panelists on Chris' show. They keep from "dumbing it down," and that's refreshing.
On edit: maybe I had something with the Ivy League thought. Just found out Chris is a graduate of Brown University...

(10,021 posts)She's smart, good looking, charming, speaks her mind without being condescending; she's up there with Rachel, but talks a little slower, which, at my age, I appreciate. You go, Girl.

(63,912 posts)patron to take it out! My library is really, really good about ordering new nonfiction books...it's in a neighboring town that is quite well off financially (which is not my immediate area!). And they treasure their library and fund it handsomely with their taxes...
