I hope at least one of the parents of the victims of Newtown has the courage of the Tills

Emmett Till was lynched in 1955 for the crime of whistling at a white woman. His mother insisted on an open casket despite the fact his body was horribly disfigured. The picture of his body in that casket ran in several black newspapers of the day. People needed to see that. I hope one or more of the parents have the courage to have an open casket to show us what we need to see. It would be heart breaking to see those photos but we need our hearts broken. We need our noses rubbed in the stench of what we permitted to happen.

aggressive media. The photo of the dead child could be all over with horrible comments being made about the parents for their decision. You really need to spend some time reading the horrible things right wingers are saying in blogs about even the most innocent of decisions. I can't see a parents wanting to subject the memory of their dead child to such filth.

with the recent murders most people are outraged and want something done. but the problem is politics. not the people.

in the case of Till the people needed to be convinced . that is not the case here.

Do you people listen to yourselves?

and time and again we see nothing happen. The fact is we likely won't see it happen this time either unless the public gets really riled up. I think the public needs to see what we have allowed to happen. If the public refuses to hold our politicians accountable for permitting the sale of these weapons then it needs to see in graphic detail just what their refusal has brought upon the land.

Can you honestly say that waving the tiny. mutilated bodies of these children as though they're bloody flags in front of the crowd in any way honors their memories?
