"Heritage Foundation says 'NO' to 'Plan B'". "Club for Growth says 'NO"..." "Norquist gives his blessing..." The GOP is in a civil war. I think the President was just fueling the fire there. Cuts to SS and Medicare of any sort will not pass the Senate, and I think he knows that. Of course, once the filibuster rules get changed, that's another story...

Things Republicans want to hack to shit, just to show America that he's willing to work with the other side. He knows it will get rejected, and Obama comes out looking like the sensible one, and the Republicans nothing but
obstructionists. Its a shrewd move, the first offensive move going into 2014 to get the House back.

Are you sure Obama isn't playing chess at least a couple moves ahead?

Obama's shown to the country that he's willing to act like an adult. When the teabaggers refuse to accept the offer, Obama's free to withdraw it, let the deadline pass, then when the GOP's twisting in the wind and begging for that old offer, he can give them the finger and give some stronger demands.

May e then they will have to take some of the heat for this. It really is their responsibility anyway as the legislative body of the government .
