Let's throw the entire thing into Boehner's lap and let him take the heat.
And actually, I would advocate that we should let the payroll tax cut on SS expire. I think the reason that the Republicans went along with it anyway (during the recession) because they were willing to do anything they could to make SS less solvent in the future.
Given the growth that has happened in the economy since it was enacted, it may be time to let it expire anyway.
Just my $.02.
