Little Boys and Girls on the Playground

I was not sure where to vent this frustration but in talking with friends and neighbors, I find that many share this feeling. In a nutshell, we implore Congress and the President to STOP PLAYING AROUND WITH OUR FUTURE LIKE IT WAS A CHILDHOOD PLAYDATE! Little boys and a few girls on the playground trying to show who is in charge. You are terrifying all of us, those who have money not as much, but for those of us in the middle who pay a very large percentage of our income in taxes we are starting to lose sleep.

It is totally unfair for taxes to be only income based, yes, there are taxes on capital gains, but they are not nearly high enough. Investment income is how Wall Street millionaires hide their money. If they took their salaries in actual paychecks as opposed to investments they would all pay their fair share. If we made it impossible for people to hide money abroad we could easily balance the budget.

What is most terrifying is that Economics and Civics are not taught like they used to be as basic requirements in high school. This produces a large segment of voters who can be easily swayed to believe anything the rich want them to. They use the media, in particular Fox News to scare these folks to believe we are all after them in some way. Smoke and mirrors, make them fixate on gay rights, a black man in the white house and everyone after their guns and they don’t notice their pockets are being picked. They have vilified educated people with the “us vs. them” idea. Those east coast liberal intellectuals look down on you is a big deal for most of them.

People are terrified of science, math anything that will educate them to understand what is happening. I understand that everyone hopes they will someday have enough wealth to have a need for a tax shelter, but in fact, most of the people who follow these ideas will NEVER be that wealthy. If unions, which gave everyone a living wage and some vacation and benefits are gone the boss owns you. I am not a socialist. I believe strongly in capitalism, the kind that TRULY trickles down to the worker, not the kind that keeps their money and screws the workers. If they want class warfare, they just may get it if they keep this up. Once the masses wake up and smell the coffee this could get ugly.

I quit working due to health issues and my insurance costs almost $900 a month. We are now a one income household with some from my investments. I had hoped to be able to move to Medicare at some point before I die, maybe not. Perhaps I can run for Congress, I hear they have a pretty nifty cradle to grave deal.
