nor was it intended to be the sole source of retirement income. People who have only their SS benefits to live on, live at or below the poverty level in this country. I think all this focus on Social Security benefits is a very cunning way for republicans to distract the nation from the fact that way too many Americans have no separate pension plans.

We need to have some sort of pension and additional lifetime savings also. But S.S. ain't bad! I could live on mine if I needed to.
