Most of those tariffs have been on hold and go into full effect this Friday. They are going to sink the economy, at least for Main Street.

The only official word on them so far is that nothing will stop them from going into full effect as King Rancid cavorts and cheats on the golf courses in Scotland and makes a complete arse of himself to the gentlemen of the press.

By the time he waddles off the plane back here in the US, the shambles should just be starting. It will just be starting to sink in that the choice is between new school shoes for the kid or a pack each of burgers and hot dogs for the Labor Day backyard cookout.

Trump caused stocks to dive it by yammering about tariffs and then “taking them back” (TACO Trump). Most of the tariffs didn’t go on yet. Many tariffs are not going through until Aug.1, but since Trump always “chickens out” who knows if they’ll really go through.
