Ground chuck is more expensive, $ 6.00+ per pound. That's hamburger, not a strip steak. It cost $ 1.99 a pound on sale a year ago.

Was up to $16. Once open, I put it in the freezer.

Being that it is just me now, I make a pot of coffee every 2 to 3 days or 12 pots a month. There is 24 hour coffee where I live as well. A lot of my groceries last longer, but still I see the prices inching upwards.

I live in a low cost of living state and just checked the prices at my local grocery store online and they are $6.99/lb, for 80%, $7.79/lb for 85%, $8.49/lb for 93%. And that's just the generic store brand meat at a run-of-the-mill (i.e., not high-end) national grocery store chain.

16. I wouldn't say that essentially a clearance price is an accurate portrayal of the actual price.

There are usually better deals on food that is about to expire and needs to be sold ASAP or it will be thrown out, but there are also usually only limited quantities of those, and once the few of them are bought up, you are left with the regular supply at regular prices.
