The flag at my apartment complex has been at half staff since Friday

Which I find kind of obscene. Dump passed an executive order authorizing this, but I think it only applied to government buildings. The flag at my complex in suburban Kansas City was definitely not at half staff when the elected legislator in Minnesota was assassinated in June.

This was a partisan, hate spewing political pundit, who spent his career debating 19 year old college students because if he debated knowledgeable adults, he would have gotten his ass handed to him and been exposed.

I'm moving soon and want these assholes to give me a reference and not charge me for a couple damaged things in the apartment because they're scheduled to do a renovation after I leave anyway, but I find it very inappropriate.

Trump canceled flags being at half staff for President Carter and how he's ordered it for this cretin - at our embassies all over the world. It's so fucked.

If they are maga enough to half-staff it, they probably fly it at night without lights, violation flag ethics. Thus Bernardo de La Paz Sep 2025 #1

I think you may be able to sneak out between 2 and 4 am and raise it to full staff. Do they fly it at night and during inclement weather? You may have an opportunity.

I first noticed it at 10:30 pm last night. I've heard the maintenance man blathering about stuff he heard on Fox, I didn't realize that the management shared his views.

And go out and steal it. Then I'd replace it with the Pride Flag.

It's really not worth being possibly identified. The Kirk designated Kirk mourning period will end soon. My post was mainly wondering how common this is.

Nobody is going to get security footage from surrounding area for a non-crime.

But I do understand your reluctance. Just ideas, no push.

And I thought they were fairly tolerant, so the flag surprised me. If I was a new tenant on a tour, I'd ask them what the flag was for and when they told me, I'd say that I've seen enough and leave.

So I feel for you.

I used to get mail from Bible thumping man splainers because I wrote letters to the editor taking a pro choice point of view.

We moved to Lincoln, NE in 1994. It was worse! A city councilman--who was Catholic --was threatened with excommunication for daring to suggest that his own personal position should not influence voting to allow others to exercise their own right to choose.

There are a lot of people in this country hell bent on hating women having choices. Or hell bent on denying equal rights to people of color, immigrants or LGBTQ. Just try to stay away from as many as you can. Even if you move to a blue city, there will still be property owners able to exercise their right to prominently display their hatred. You can't get away from it entirely. Find something you can do to help someone else. It will make you feel better.
