General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI hope Cory Booker is right. Does he know something we don't?
Booker at the oversight hearing for Kash Patel this morning: "Here's the thing, Mr. Patel. I think you're not gonna be around long. I think this might be your last oversight hearing. Because as much as you supplicate yourself to the will of Donald Trump and not the Constitution, Donald Trump has shown us he is not loyal to people like you."
He is predicting that Patel will soon be fired. AND he brought the fire to the hearing. I appreciated his passion, especially after Patel's rude and insulting behavior to other Dems on the panel.
Good job, Sen. Booker!!!

(244 posts)I have been wondering if he had an eye surgery recently, his eyes seem slightly less startled of late, but could just be me getting used to them, I don't pay that much attention to video, mostly just listening in background.

(9,473 posts)Trump always finds scapegoats and getting on his bad side doesn't take much.
And with Patel's skin being as melanin-rich as it is, that means Trump's patience will be even thinner.

(37,999 posts)I heard on a news (radio -not sure which station) broadcast this morning that Bondi wants Patel fired. If that's true - his days are numbered.
She's a much more 'polished' liar and better fits the Aryan Image that Herr Drumph wants.

(24,792 posts)are against Patel. He knows this since he lives on social media. That's got to bother him. I could tell by his reaction to Booker that it got under his skin. So that's good, because going on offense is important and these people are all ridiculously thin skinned. Anything that can throw them off their game is a positive, politically speaking.

(1,604 posts)This was a hearing. Aside from accountability, its also done for the cameras. This matters for Booker since hes likely to run in the 28 primaries.
And making the GOP look bad is part of the case Dems have to make. Thats the prerequisite for GOP reps and senators getting fired in the first place next year.

(97,163 posts)They were brilliant as well! You should watch more of the Senate hearings to see what the Democrats are actually doing. These hearings didn't just pop up today, they have been ongoing. Not just Patel but Noem, McMahon, Hogsbreath and so many more.
Everyone should take a break from their keyboards and actually look and see what is happening in real life and how our Democrats are addressing these issues.
They have a voice, and they are using it.

(60,060 posts)Right after the hearing, Patel may have gone to Trump for assurances that his position was secure, and Trump would have told him, of course your position is secure, which, coming from Trump's mouth, probably scared him more than anything Booker said.
