(7,964 posts)No nonsense, cuts through all the BS and gives you the true message. She's quite brilliant! Disney is certainly paying a steep price for licking tRUMP's lift-filled, smelly shoes.
They have their tongues so far up his bloated ass, they can taste his hamberders before he does.

(5,520 posts)accurate trump should have never have gotten a second term.
At least from my observation, many Americans are pretty lazy an complacent. If it wasn't so we would not have lost the Supreme Court, Roe V Wade, an erosion of the civil rights and voting rights act, environmental protections, workers rights, civil rights, etc.

(7,852 posts)If you provide enough backlash trump will turn tail and run. Now he is going to infiltrate Memphis. Pritzker is now facing articles of impeachment from an Illinois MAGA politician but I don't see this going anywhere.

Maybe Disney doesn't care about money as much as something else. And / or ....
Maybe Disney doesn't know what they care about.

(8,849 posts)cancelations are worth the future deals. Maybe they are picking up subscriptions from RWrs. Maybe they already factored in the backlash.
I haven't seen any statement from them or published cancellation numbers or drops in revenue. Seems like hopeful speculation
I don't believe this was a spontaneous decision or discussion by Disney...they've been following the news, they've heard from the administration before, they know who is on the WH enemies list. And were prepared.
I support a continued boycott and an even more widespread boycott/strike, so I'm hopeful as well about what people are doing; i just don't know what effect it is having yet.

(58,374 posts)Disney closed at 115.23 on the 16th.
Disney canned Kimmel on the 17th (Wed.).
Disney closed at 113.76 on the 19th, down 1.47 from Tues, a loss of market cap of $2.64 billion in three days.

(8,710 posts)All speculation.
Less than market cap is down less than $3B, so about 1.5%; not nothing, but they've seen much worse.
I'm pretty sure that their quarterly reports show streaming numbers, so I would expect to see a big drop there, which is the opposite of what they forecast at the end of Q3 FY25.
https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/the-walt-disney-company-reports-third-quarter-and-nine-months-earnings-for-fiscal-2025/
~54% of their profit comes from the Experiences segment (theme parks around the world, Disney Cruise Line, and Disney Vacation Club), so if people cancel vacations (which I'm guessing most people won't do), they could take a hit there.
It's going to have to shake out over the next quarter or two to really see the impact.

(114,666 posts)especially the news that it's happening offshore, also. That's the part I don't think Disney was expecting. They were prepared to deal with a few liberal soreheads here, but the fact that this is spreading is freaking them out.
Remember"Turn on, tune in, drop out?" I suggest we update that for a new maniac in the White house:
Turn it off
Tune them out
Drop their asses.

(4,268 posts)I like her forcefulness and articulation. But Disney does not have any merger in the works that needs FCC approval. Nexstar does, and Nexstar is not owned by Disney.
There's been some talk about Disney selling ABC to Nexstar, but I don't know how far it has gotten.

(23,802 posts)As a fan, Marzec has been outspoken online about her disappointment with the corporations decisions in recent months, and plans to not post any content about the brand for now. However, she urges other Disney fans and creators to not give into infighting over the situation with Jimmy Kimmel and Disney. Everyone, she says, should be given the space to figure out how to handle the situation for themselves.
Everyone is coming to terms with it at different speeds, and the most important thing we can do right now is hold space for each other and be kind, she says.
Cuevas notes that in this space, Disney creators have more power and influence than some may expect. She wants to use her voice and platform to make a change.
With a single post or video, we can influence thousands of guests to try a food, drink, or experience in the parks, she says. I couldnt, in good conscience, keep giving them free publicity knowing they dont support free speech and are willing to bow to fascism. I had to make my stance clear and hope that this starts a movement and gets Disney to make some changes.

(8,168 posts)They rely on the goodwill of their customers, the people that are watching, their supporters.
Attendance to Disney attractions will go down.
Tesla will lose sales.
Israel will lose status and cooperative help from other countries.
Trump will slump at the next election.
Did they all think that support from their customers was immutable? That it couldn't dissipate with any wrong moves?
Must be nice to be that self assured and dumb at the same time!
Bigwigs at Disney: We built Disney into what it is today!
Me: Actually, the money you convinced your customers to spend did that.
Unconvince them, and watch your revenue stream suffer.
