I think that will be our downfall - underestimating them and overestimating the intelligence of the typical American voter.

that everything will be OK, we are in the early stages of a dictatorship, right fucking now. We need to fight back right fucking now.
California should have gone for more than 5 House seats because it looks like not many other states are following suit.

They know their power. They will secede before allowing the Federal Government to include them in its fascist takeover of the country. And Oregon and Washington will join them when they do.

The typical American voter is why we are where we are. OTOH, the typical American voter is the only way we can get out of this mess. It’s clear that the republicans in Congress won’t stand up, so it’s up to us to do it at the ballot box. The problem is getting people to wake up and realize we hold the power.

taking those leaders away from their posts around the world and putting them in one place.

Maybe some sort of loyalty oath or your fired situation. So if anyone feels uncomfortable with illegal orders, they may have to retire early. Or they'll fire anyone who looks too DEI and put in unqualified loyal MAGAts.

'Hegseth hit with 'rare intervention' as Pentagon generals grow tired of his act: NYT'

"Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is facing growing opposition from Pentagon generals, including from the current chairman of the Joint Chiefs, as questions about his leadership grow...The report notes that the latest clash with the generals is part of a growing problem as questions grow about the embattled secretary's performance."

" 'Mr. Hegseth’s actions could shape the military’s top ranks for years to come. His insistence on absolute loyalty, backed with repeated threats of polygraphs, also creates uncertainty and mistrust that threaten to undermine the readiness and effectiveness of the force,' Pentagon insiders told the Times."

"With the report noting that firings and resignations have left Hegseth with a 'skeleton staff of civilian aides to run his office,' the report adds, 'The infighting, investigations and personnel churn have strained Mr. Hegseth’s ability to manage critical operations in the Pentagon.' "

"The Times is reporting that Pentagon officials have grown weary of Hegseth's continual photo-ops, noting, 'including one that he posted from Omaha Beach in Normandy in which he joins Army Rangers carrying a soldier on a stretcher as part of D-Day remembrances — are distractions that serve primarily to bolster his image.' We had the chance to stop this when things became crazy, but we decided that those who were corrupting and destroying the means to remove them should be removed by the means they were corrupting and destroying.

Makes sense.

I think it's to tell the military they will have to work for free during the budget shutdown. They did a grand meeting when I was in the Navy over when/how/if we were going to get paid during the budget shutdown.

The Admirals all told us we had to work even if we didn't get paid. I think many a sailor had other ideas. But the shut down was short lived and we got paid.
