General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI would say 75% of Television News Anchors and reporters have absolutely no idea
what the fiscal cliff is about. All day long on news stations these fucking idiots
are warning viewers about the impending doom which is quickly approaching.
But get this; today they were interviewing shoppers in the mall who were telling
these idiots that they are cutting holiday spending due to the crisis.
What a stupid fucking country we live in and thats exactly the way the Club For Economic
Growth wants it.!

(22,144 posts)The Feds are not prepared for this. SecDef ordered the DoD not to invest in making preparations for it. Not sure what other depts were directed to do.
It will produce a lot of uncertainty in the Federal workforce, not just for their own paychecks but for the programs they fund/administer.
Rough times for a while until they get things figured out if it happens and nothing is done in January.

(15,139 posts)tax increases. It is about my family's income and job stability - likewise for many others. It may seem like no big deal to some, but it's nail-biting time for us.

(20,729 posts)of senate democrats & half of house democrats, plus our current president, who signed the bill -- should get together & 'unpass' it.
this is a farce. first most of the government passes the bill, then they all stand & yell "OMG!!! Look what's going to happen!!!!"

(1,362 posts)"Emergency extensions" will be passed for everything, as has always been the case; the entire "fiscal cliff" premise is false as is most everything in today's post-reality political propaganda that is passed on by our corrupt media.
The sad thing to me is the people whom don't recognize the propaganda and fall for it time and time again.

(57,936 posts)I have forgotten the exact number of bases we have, but it is just enormous. We have far more bases than we need. And of course we have spend our tax money overseas to hire people in other countries to work at those bases in addition to keeping the bases in acceptable condition.
What a waste of money.
Do we need bases overseas? Yes. But we don't need nearly as many as we have.
Do we need a strong defense? Yes. But we don't need to waste money on all kinds of equipment and people and amenities that do not strengthen our defense.
We could cut a great deal more from our defense budget. Spending that money here in the US would make us much stronger.

(13,616 posts)I laugh. What killed journalism was that the news anchors were shown to be a bunch of stupid, shallow, clueless cowards! If the MSM did their job for the past ten years, they would have been in good shape. Not like there was any shortage of real news to report.
Now, people realize the only sources for news analysis and honest commentary are Internet blogs and Comedy Central; that SHOULD be a joke, but sadly, it is not.
