Yes, your instincts are correct, that is a nazi-ism.
"The enemy within" is exactly what they called not just Jewish people but Communists, Blacks, LGBTQ, Romanians (known colloquially at the time as Gypsies) and anyone else they deemed to be an enemy of the state. In some cases even the people that helped Hitler create his vision eventually found themselves on the pointy end of that effort and paid a very high cost.
More specifically to our current situation, we have to come to terms that the current government of the US likely sees Democrats and our allies as that enemy.
I sincerely hope the news media DEMANDS that he elaborates on who he considers to be "the enemy within" because we need him to say it out loud. We need to hang that albatross around the neck of Republicans from now to the end of time.
I am taking the position that the Republican Party and all that claim allegiance to it, are domestic terrorists, bent to the destruction of this country and the murder of a majority of its citizens.
Why?
Because that is, in no uncertain terms, what the leader of their political party said to our military leadership yesterday.

(175,340 posts)Much of the presidents speech to military leaders was stale and dull. But then he started talking about using the military against the enemy within.
Much of Trumpâs speech to generals and admirals was stale, boring, and predictable.

But when he turned his attention to the âenemy within,â and started talking about using U.S. cities as military âtraining grounds,â this was a qualitatively different kind of pitch. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

But making matters far more serious was Trumps pitch on using the U.S. military on American soil. NPR summarized:
President Trump defended the use of U.S. troops in American cities and told top U.S. commanders that the military would be used against the enemy within. ... This is going to be a big thing for the people in this room, because its the enemy from within, and we have to handle it before it gets out of control, Trump told those gathered for the highly unusual event at Quantico, Va. It wont get out of control once youre involved at all.
The ones that are run by the radical left Democrats, what theyve done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, theyre very unsafe places. And were going to straighten them out one by one. And this is going to be a major part for some of the people in this room, he told military leaders. Thats a war, too. Its a war from within.

As part of the same argument, the president said hes told Hegseth that the U.S. should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military.
Trump: "San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles...That's a war too. It's a war from within...I told Pete, we should use some of these cities as training grounds for our military â national guard, but military. We're going into Chicago very soon."

After troop deployments in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., as well as announced deployments to Memphis and Portland, Oregon, many raised concerns about the presidents willingness and apparent eagerness to use military force against Americans. After Trumps speech to generals and admirals, those concerns deserve to be a whole lot louder.

(11,009 posts)It DOES mean members of the elected government who do exactly what the orange menace is doing. He (and all of his bootlickers and sycophants) are actual enemy combatants. The military is swore to defend the Constitution NOT the king or country even.
An unlawful order is unlawful regardless of who gives it or for what reasons. History will not grant a pass to those who attempt to 'go along to get along' or say they were 'only following orders'.
Firing on American citizens, or in civilian population centers (as if this is Baghdad or Mosul or any other foreign city or battlefield) is a violation of the most basic oath sworn by every member of the military and its entire chain of command. Choose now. But know that in the end, justice will fall upon all who eschew their honor for temporary status with the dictator. And there will be no shortage in the supply of us willing to carry out sentence on those who make war on the citizenry of this nation.

(6,349 posts)I dont see why they wont just fess up and admit it. What they really want is a white America, kept uneducated, ruled by extremist religious clerics, and wrapped in the privilege of never being offended. They might as well say it out loud... everyone with a brain already knows.
