along with petitions for impeachment.

As the problem with impeachment is that the Senate must vote to convict in order tp accomplish it, the problem with the 24th is that the impetus must come from his cabinet. Can you see this cabinet even considering it for a second? I can't. (And if they did, we'd have President Vance. Who wants that?"

Jefferson said, and Lincoln quoted, "[W]henever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it." But neither of them, and no Congress or Court, has ever given the people of the United States a mechanism to accomplish that end.

for the 2025 group and Steven Miller to get at least 90% of their wet dream list done........

The 25th amendment process gives Trump/Republicans too much time to protest and nullify before it would go into effect.........Besides, it would only make Trump more of a martyr to his Trump Humpers.

I would love to believe that the Repubs have wanted rid of him as long as we have, they just worry about his 75M voters turning against all of them...
JDVance would do anything and everything the 2025 group and Miller order him to do, without questioning or going off constantly like a loose cannon which Trump does.......Then again, Trump serves as a constant diversion, and something for the Republican Mass Media to focus on, vs all the other things they are doing in the shadows and with smoke and mirrors............

With Trump out of the way, it is going to be a big bag of rats cannibalize one another. I can't see Vance being more than a 1-percenter.

However, that is not what the polls say. The polls say Vance is 20 points underwater nationally, but he has very strong support among Republicans as of now. I don't believe that would hold, but what the Post-Trump world looks like is anybody's guess.

There will be an actual vote. Whether or not it's a rigged, Soviet style vote is still a matter to be contested. Peter Thiel is the power behind the scenes. He pushed for Trump to endorse Vance for Senator and he pushed for Trump to pick Vance as running mate. Without Thiel, Vance wouldn't be in politics. Thiel's governance model for America is for Vance to be an Andropov style premier as the figure head with the billionaire/oligarchs to be the politburo behind him wielding the real power. We are just the peasants serving the oligarchs.

to put this discussion of removal into the national discussion and keep it there.

Oratorically, it can be tied to every other issue. For example, on tariffs:

"THe Trump tariff madness is driving the economy into the ground. People are seeing costs for everyday goods exploding. Farmers haven't sold a single soybean to China this year and many are at risk of losing their farms. We have now lost jobs in 3 of the last 4 months. This is not just bad policy. It is completely reckless. There is no plan. There is no rationale for any of this. It is just random and mostly unconstitutional and grievance-based - vindictive. It is time for the cabinet to do their duty under the 25th Amendment and remove this senile man from office."

Likewise, that can be the ending flourish for every issue. That puts the weight on the Republicans to explain why they are NOT taking action.

Wed Oct 1, 2025, 02:47 PM

Trump's disrespect for established Constitutional norms including the separation of powers, is a very real and serious concern -- one that is most appropriately dealt with either at the ballot box or in an impeachment proceeding (which actually is less of a hurdle to overcome than removing a president via the 25th Amendment.)

IMO, the 25th is intended to address the situation described in the amendment -- a president who is "unable" to discharge the powers and duties of the office. Not a president who discharges those duties badly or even unlawfully. But a president who literally is not able to act -- not able to sign or veto legislation or make appointments vested to his authority by the Constitution etc.

As terrible and even unlawful as some of Trump's actions, and as unhinged as his oratory, his decisions have the support of his cabinet, of a majority of the Congress, and in many instances, the courts. Again, the 25th amendment was not intended as a means of sitting in judgment of a president's decision making, it was intended to address a situation where the president literally cannot make decisions, because for example, he or she is unconscious, in a coma, or otherwise incapacitated.

So long as a President is conscious, the 25th Amendment is virtually incapable of removing a President, especially with a Congress as supine as the current one. And if it were possible to implement the Amendment, impeachment would be easier, and likely faster.
