Trump is pulling out the stops to rage about the Shutdown. Good. Of course he is going to do every evil thing he can think of. He’a a white trash hillbilly akin to JD Vance. This is what we want. We want him unhinged. We want him raging. We want him to be as extreme as possible while he has no real way of paying the people ordered to do the evil shit. This will burn out at some point and it will burn out on his minions faster.

ICE nazis need to pay their bills. At some point they won’t be able to and all the financial promises made to them will come undone.

This is good. This is the point. To remind these asshats they are nothing without us.

Trump will try to withhold them but this will rapidly be overturned in court.

And if SS payments for some reason are withheld, the entire economy will start shutting down, so you won’t be alone. The pressure to cave won’t be on Dems alone.

Father-in-law was advised. I don’t know about Medicare and Med-cal (Medicaid).

He did receive the military payment for PTSD (Marine veteran, heavy combat in the Vietnam War).

I know that those who provide emergency services like search and rescue teams in national parks are being paid.
Some Federal employees are being furloughed but still need to work to provide only "essential services" but they will not be paid until the government re-opens. Others are furloughed but are forbidden to work at all and will also be paid eventually.

It's very complicated and it seems that some departments are running around like chickens without heads because they don't know what the new rules are regarding this.

However, SSA will stop services like benefit verifications and processing overpayments. Customer service wait times will dramatically increase.

Will Medicare and Medicaid benefits be affected?

Current Medicare, Medicaid, and disability insurance beneficiaries will continue to receive their benefits assuming a shutdown lasts less than three months.
