A distraction will be needed from this -
Victims of Jeffrey Epstein will return to Capitol Hill next week, when they will be hosted by a bipartisan group of lawmakers pushing the Trump administration to release the governments files on the sex offender.
Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) had staged a public event with Epstein survivors early last month as part of their effort to drum up support for a discharge petition designed to force the administration to release the secret documents.

(169,732 posts)I don't know if she ever said anything but she either wasn't believed or did not think people would believe her - likely a family member. It makes her feel rage when she hears about these Epstein victims being dismissed and her own colleagues participating in the coverup.
Irish_Dem
(79,990 posts)Her rage and anger.
Her acting out sexually in her marriage, multiple, ongoing public affairs.
Her drug abuse, steroids in particular. To feel strong and powerful.
Which means she felt weak and powerless for most of her childhood.
Yes family member or close trusted friend or authority figure as the abuser.
We know MAGAs/GOP don't give a damn about any issue unless it hit them personally.

and yes, it's always telling when repukes do the right thing - it's usually only because somehow it affects them

(79,990 posts)From AI internet:
Steroid abuse can cause women to develop more male characteristics, a process known as virilization. Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are synthetic derivatives of testosterone, the primary male sex hormone. When women use these substances, they expose their bodies to supraphysiological levels of androgens, which can cause a range of physical and psychological side effects that mimic male puberty.

(37,472 posts)I know several people who experienced ongoing trauma in their youth and they all display various extreme behaviors such as anorexia or the opposite.
At first, I thought Greene was involved because thats where the media was, but shes been uncharacteristically serious and consistent in her determination to see it through in the face of what you know is a full on terror campaign being waged on her behind the scenes by Trump and his enablers.
Still, aside from the Epstein issue, shes sure to toe the hateful Republican agenda. So, this enemy of our enemies is unlikely to be a friend.
Whats Massies motivation, do you suppose?

(79,990 posts)A red flag for childhood abuse.
Yes at first it looked like she was just showboating, jumping on the bandwagon to
make herself look good and fight Trump as a publicity stunt.
But it is clearly personal at this point.

(169,732 posts)there's some deep righteous anger going on with her
Irish_Dem
(79,990 posts)I don't know enough about this guy to have a strong opinion.
But if he is a MAGA we know they don't give a damn about anyone but themselves.
And MAGA males have a strong tendency to be abusers.
All of their accusations are confessions.
Could he be an abuser trying to cover up his own crimes?
Or was he abused as a child?
Or is he just grandstanding and wants to fight Trump for some reason.

(1,866 posts)the first time you met them? Then later you become best friends? Maybe, Marjorie had a reconning about who she is really angry at. She might come over to the left. Would you welcome her?
I'm not talking to anyone in particular. We should all ask ourselves that. Or not.

(169,732 posts)there's an anger in her that she turned outward with callous disregard for the people she demonizes - I believe MTG, like Nancy Mace, is in dire need of a mental health intervention

(1,241 posts)MTG could very well have some empathy for the victims. However, we are approaching an election year and she will so whatever has to be done to stay relevant and electable. If she wins again, she will be back to the MTG we saw in the first place .
