A powerful reminder of what a real Commander-in-Chief looks like.

Sixteen years ago this month, President Obama quietly made history. In the middle of the night, he became the first President to witness the return of fallen soldiers. He later spent six hours with the grieving families.

A powerful reminder of what a real Commander-in-Chief looks like.

There's a great little part of the video when Paul sang "Michelle, la belle" and the younger Obama daughter was seen whispering into her dad's ear and then he shook his head. My bet is that she asked if McCartney had written that song for mommy.

I miss them so much...

He understands the seriousness of sending men and women to conflict, and the consequences may mean the loss of a loved one for their families.

This is not a man that asks why they bothered to sign up, or worse yet just calls them suckers and losers. A man of decency and good character. That’s what I miss.

to Jimmy Carter's flag draped casket being carried by marines, he kept his hands at his sides.

Then, ordered flags to be removed from half staff for Carter on the day he was inaugurated because he took it as an insult to him that flags were at half staff on his inauguration day.

Obama would regularly visit soldiers who were in rehabilitation from thier injuries. Some were happy to see him and others were not. He never made a big deal of it and he would often be dressed in workout clothes so he could exercise with the ones who asked him to do so. He understood the commitment and sacrifice that these men and women had made and he never used them as props.

Some have speculated the his visits with these soldiers made him less likely to send troops into harms way. He also disputed that line of thinking. Honor and decency, something that is sorely missed right now.
