'Pain in my life': Sean Duffy whines that unpaid air traffic workers are calling in sick

By David Edwards
Published October 13, 2025 10:26 AM ET

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy insisted that millions of demonstrators who take part in the peaceful No Kings protests are "part of antifa," which has been designated as a domestic terrorist organization by President Donald Trump.

Duffy made the remarks on Monday while complaining about air traffic controllers who call in sick during the government shutdown.

"Why do they want to create pain in my life? What, for political power?" the Trump official told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo. "I think Americans are upset about that."

acknowledged, is the PTSD in that generation. Many seem to think PTSD was a new phenomenon of the Vietnam War. Theere are many of us who know that is not the case. I lived with the consequences of both wars for most of my life.

Returning vets from WWI and WWII - it was called shell shock back then.

In Tom Brokaw's book "The Greatest Generation" (I hate that title) he briefly touched on the fact that many returning vets didn't make the best fathers. Some of us had first hand experience with that.

But it happened so late in his life. In his 70s or so. And I half laughed when he suggested it which I feel bad about. He suffered severe depression and started drinking with a fellow submariner he knew. He was depth charged many times and he said that was traumatic.

He was a B-17 pilot up until the end of the war. He lost lots of people in his Bombardment group. Lots. Had a piece of flak shrapnel in his leg. But, the entire time I knew him, he was one of the most stable, even-tempered men I have ever met. I have known a few others who were in combat during WWII. All have been pretty much OK, as far as I could tell.

I realize that was not always the case, but don't have any theories about why. I do not like wars. I spent a 4-year enlistment in the USAF, but was never even near any combat. They found other work for me to do in other places.

Now, I'm an old man who has lived the life I've lived. Each of us has to deal with what presents itself to us. I guess I come from very stable stock, for which I'm very grateful.

I guess that is because they are essential workers. In the case of Republicans, how can you be essential when you do no work whether you are in or out of your office?

If anyone at any protest is AntiFa, could Trump order a crackdown in certain cities ala June 1 2020 for a show to the public?

Duffy is echoing lots of their normal rhetoric but if they are ramping up MAGA and getting ready to have a show of power we could hear this a lot more leading up to November Kings.

They are either as worried about No Kings as they seem and/or they could be trying to dampen participation.

YOU try being an air traffic controller! Try it for ONE day. And let’s see how YOU do.

I’ve never been there, myself, but I’ve known about, read about, and covered that industry. My dad was an Air Force pilot flying photo-recon during WW2, having admitted he “fell in love with airplanes” at an early age. My husband still has his pilot’s license even though he doesn’t fly anymore. My mom was a flight attendant back in the day - one of the first, back when they were called “hostesses.” I have a lot of respect for pilots and crews, understanding at least a little bit of the discipline that’s essential to that vocation. I’m the only “groundling” in the family.

You and all the others in Trump's CABAL, who can't think any further than the end of their noses.....Let alone understand the ramifications of your shoot from the hip, loud mouths blithering stupidity........

By now you, and your entire massive Republican Crime Syndicate should have realized, by your groups already previous actions, there is a correlation between you all's actions and the Law of Un-intended Consequences.......BIG TIME......or FAFO in short.......

Trump's idiotic, psychotic, and stupid as well as corrupt administration, along with the Republican Senators, Republican House Members and the Republican members of the U.S. Supreme Court are willfully, so stupid/ignorant to figure out, that as soon as you have outgrown your usefulness in the near future, you will be instantly thrown under a steam roller by Trump! It is his lifetime MO.........
Nowhere, in a Tyranny/Dictatorship are there Legislative, or Judicial Branches of government.....They are not needed/allowed with a Dictatorship....
