POLITICO obtained an image taken during a virtual meeting that shows the flag pinned to what appears to be a cubicle wall behind Angelo Elia, one of Taylors staffers. Alongside the flag with altered red and white lines in the shape of a swastika are pinned images, including a pocket Constitution and a congressional calendar. It is unclear what role, if any, Elia had in the incident. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.....

(18,633 posts)controls the Capitol Police and how that may present a conflict of interest when it comes to transparency and honesty in a case such as this.
The Capitol Police are controlled by the Capitol Police Board, which has three voting members: the Architect of the Capitol, the Sergeant at Arms of the House, and the Sergeant at Arms of the Senate. The Architect is appointed by a congressional commission, and the vote was unanimous in the case of the current one, that's fine. But the two Sergeants at Arms are nominated by the Speaker/Majority Leader at the beginning of each term and voted in alongside other beginning of term shit (like rules packages etc). As such they are overtly beholden to the majority party's leadership for their job. How do you think THEY are going to manage this "investigation"?

(23,671 posts)10 years ago, the calls to resign would be deafening, and they'd be coming from all signs.
Now it's just going to be dismissed as "woke" concern.
