Brewers fan loses jobs after being named by internet as spectator saying 'Call ICE' on Dodgers fan

A Milwaukee Brewers fan lost two jobs after social media footage showed her saying she was going to “Call ICE” on a Latino Dodgers fan during a playoff game.

A video of the encounter captured Shannon Kobylarczyk, sporting yellow and navy Brewers gear, at the playoffs game in Milwaukee Tuesday night yelling at a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, Ricardo Fosado, who filmed the incident. The Independent reached out to a number linked to Kobylarczyk for comment.

Kobylarczyk then looked at Fosado and yelled: “Real men drink beer, p***y!” She then tapped the man in front of her and said: “You know what, let’s call ICE.” Fosado replied: “Call ICE. Call ICE. I’m a U.S. citizen, war veteran, baby girl. War veteran, two wars. ICE is not gonna do nothing to me. Good luck.”

He is a U.S. citizen of Mexican heritage who served in the U.S. Navy from 2001 to 2005, he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Kobylarczyk later reported him to the stadium’s security and he was escorted out of the building, he told the outlet.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/brewers-fan-loses-jobs-internet-152731967.html

She was fired from ManPowerGroup and also resigned from a board of directors role she held with Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.

What a maroon.

"I don't think it was like horrible or something that should get her fired. I feel bad for her," Fosado told the outlet. "We cannot be judged on one mistake and a lot of emotions were involved. It was just hurt feelings, nobody physically hurt anybody."

I don't know what was the right response, but perhaps she could have been counseled and put on probation. Her behavior was abhorrent and I'm not making excuses for her, but I agree the whole firing people over things done and said outside of work has gotten out of hand these days. Meanwhile, the public humiliation should really leave a stain on her.

She did not just all him a name, like dummy. What this wo.an did was racist and threatened the life of another. If she called ICE, he could have been detained, even disappeared. Some folks are living on the edge. This could have cost him his job, he may habe Bern transported to another country, he may habe lost enough job money that he could become homeless. Maybe he is the only bread winner in the family. Maybe his wife and kids end up on the street. This is how vindictive she was and she did not care! She saw the color of his skin and decided she would get in no trouble be size she was a veteran. She threatened a man! It does not seem o er the top for a non bracket employer to see her vindictiveness and think this is a shitty employee we do not want to represent our company? What she did cannot be overstated!

without due deliberation isn't mature even if they reflect our own beliefs and ideals. The same kind of employers could just as easily give into MAGA pressure.

Personally, I think her behavior and attitude were outrageous and should be exposed, but not that she should necessarily be fired unless of course her work behavior warrants it.

The cancels that were toxic for us were more like the situations where you said something on Twitter 12 years ago at the age of 16 or something and you get zapped for that. Or you made an off color joke a long time ago and now you’re cancelled….or someone found a black face costume worn 35 years ago while drunk at some frat party.

Board-of-Directors probably fall into the "We need to distance ourself" category than J. Average Worker. Given the other job she was fired from was with an HR-ish company, ManPowerGroup, that finds and hires people for other companies. I can see the connection being more-than-problematic than if she worked for a lot of other fields. Based solely on her other job title, I hypothesize that she held a higher position at ManPowerGroup, too; that part is speculation.

In these cases, the jobs were crossfire-bullseyes in terms of bad publicity for everyone associated.

I get where you are coming from, at least in part. I don't think doxing is an inherently liberal concept or activity. Neither is being an idiot in public to the degree that it requires callout an inherently conservative concept or activity. I don't really see how it loses us votes or gains MAGA any. It's a factor of what society has become with the technology we have achieved. It's not anything new, it's just that everyone has a video recorder in their pocket and the possibility of a world-wide audience.

It does go to far, at times, I agree. It reminds me a bit of the Orville Episode Social Correction. But it isn't a Right/Left thing. I don't know what the answer is to temper it.
