A Trump-appointed State Department official is now at the center of a brutal political implosion inside the GOP’s youngest ranks—allegedly triggered by a petty grudge over being left out of a photo-op with Donald Trump.


Gavin Wax, the former president of the New York Young Republican Club and now chief of staff in the State Department’s Office of Public Diplomacy, is being accused of leaking hundreds of racist, misogynistic, and flat-out vile messages from a private Telegram group chat of “Young Republican” leaders. The leak exposed 251 slurs, including the N-word, F-slur, and straight-up fascist propaganda like “I love Hitler.”

But here’s the twist: Wax wasn’t even in the chat.
