In what used to be a bright red senior community,

we had a very large and enthusiastic crowd, maybe even approaching 1000. And that is with two other demonstrations, a couple of miles away on a major street!!

of progressivism and protest since the 60s. They are most emphatically, not just concerned about their own benefits.

It sounded like maybe there were some right-leaning seniors who don't normally come out to protest.

there were mostly upper midwesterners of the “greatest generation “. It was very red. Now that the boomers and the “luckiest generation” who came right before them have retired and moved here. it’s a different and morr purplish story.

The thought of life behind bars doesn't hold the same threat for me as it does for a 25 year old. Also, I may not be able to catch you, but I can sure trip you with my cane!!!

Three times as many as last rally. At least 100 golf carts. Lots of costumes. It was exhilarating.

https://www.villages-news.com/2025/10/18/thousands-rail-against-trump-at-no-kings-rallies-in-the-villages/

"Villagers opposed to the policies of President Trump demonstrated in two locations in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown on Saturday, joining with millions of fellow Americans in No Kings rallies across the nation.

An enormous crowd of Villagers gathered near the entrance to Lake Sumter Landing holding up signs protesting against Trump. The crowd surpassed the size of the No Kings rally held at the same location this past June.

Villager LaRae Donnellan, who served as a media coordinator for the No Kings rally, estimated that more than 5,000 demonstrators turned out at the two locations in The Villages. While many were Villagers, there were many young people taking part in the rallies in The Villages, she said.
....
Several residents wore colorful costumes as they waved their signs.

Nicole Cranker wore a blowup T-Rex costume.

“How scary can you be in a blowup T-Rex costume?” she asked."....(more)
