"Thousands fill streets of downtown Lancaster for second 'No Kings' rally" (with photos)

Last edited Sun Oct 19, 2025, 07:14 AM - Edit history (1)

Lancaster, PA, is a blue city in a red county. Today's was the largest crowd I've seen gathered here, and I've attended many street festivals and outdoor concerts in the city. The quoted headline in the title is from the online version of our local daily newspaper. I'll update the post when some of the official estimates are released. Please forgive me for the poor quality of my cellphone photos.

***Update: According to Lancaster's daily newspaper, LNP, there were at least 4,000 at the Lancaster rally and 5,000 in Harrisburg.***

It's tiresome trying to frame photos on a tiny LCD screen in bright sunlight. I won't leave my camera at home again!

My county is right along the Gulf and I was pissed so I ordered it and wear it. Some might think I’m a tourist but I don’t care..

I think it'll lose its association with tourists and become a statement of belief in consensus reality, especially in the Gulf states.

The handmade signs far outnumbered any of those that were mass-produced. There are many creative people in this little city.

A bunch of people always do a great home made sign!

I do appreciate a great mass produced one, too.

“Dump Trump” signs at ours.

In terms of a creative handmade sign, there was a woman dressed in yellow, holding a beautifully drawn and colored butterfly. The sign said “the only monarch we want.”

I later heard her say she was an art teacher.

Thanks for posting those great photos of the No Kings protest in Lancaster. I was there with a group of other Dems from Ephrata. I have attended all of the protests in Lancaster since April and this was the largest crowd by far. Today's protest clearly exceeded the No Kings protest in June and local media reported that around 4,000 attended that protest. I wouldn't be surprised if the final figure for today's event comes in at more than 5,000.

Again, great job with these photos. You captured the diversity of the crowd and the creativity that went into the signs.

Ephrata Dems rings a bell. I was at the "Hands Off!" rally in April. I think I took a photo of your sign.

Yes, there might have been 5,000+ at today's rally. I've never seen so many people gathered downtown.

Here's a useful guide to posting photos on DU:

I'm wondering how this Bodes for Fetterman and is campaigning for the Traitor? The wind doesn't seem to be blowing his way in PA.

The John Fetterman I voted for would have been leading the charge at the "No Kings" rallies in PA. Things do not bode well for him.
