I wanted to wait on this so the positivity of today could take front and center.
Scenario: In a store buying some house maintenance items. Owner, the fucking MAGAt, is ringing me up, what follows is after some banal conversation.
FM: You know its still hurricane season?
Me: Yep, until November 30th. Side note, Ive been teaching meteorology to pilots for a quarter century; FM didnt know that.
FM: You know the government controls hurricanes?
Me: Thats utter bullshit, I teach meteorology for a living. Why do smart people fall for such nonsense?
FM: (Shocked at being confronted): You probably dont believe that that the Lord is coming back.
Me: Youre free to believe anything you want, but I believe you just lost a $1000 a year customer.
FM stammers as I walk out the door with my purchases never to return.
Epilogue: between losing customers like me and tariffs, Im pretty sure this business will be long gone by next year.

I probably would have mocked him by saying something like ... "but I AM the Lord. Don't you recognize me?"
And THEN I would have walked out, never to return.

(8,210 posts)handling would've been typically for me, more passive aggressive (having suffered my share of fools and clowns).
FM: You know its still hurricane season?
Me: Yeah, until November 30th. Side note, (been there, done that)
FM: You know the government controls hurricanes?
Me: You don't say. How? (some lunatic reply)
Me: Tornadoes too? (more lunacy) Well, hey, learn something every day.
FM: (sensing sarcasm): You probably dont believe that that the Lord is coming back.
Me: On the contrary, I'm counting on it. You have a great day.

(24,598 posts)Interesting part is that the morans VOLUNTEER their ignorance.
Local Ace is owned by a guy I know to be a wacko right winger. I avoid the place.
And his display of "My Pillows"
I met him at a fund raiser for the local hospital (I got a free ticket, hee hee) and he behaved, but that was before the cult got so eager to show its ignorance. Fine. I worked on aircraft engines long ago and we talked about jets.
Later, I found out that an employee embezzled his store out of

Got caught. The town doesn't really collect geniuses. Just me and a few other people.
Several that I got to know left a few years ago.
YA DID GOOD!!

That generation has passed. According to Jesus, he has already returned.

(967 posts)That is the reason that Revelation was included in the Bible. They needed that carrot to dangle before the "Christians" who need their armageddon.

(30,956 posts)I would have dumped the purchases in the trash near the entrance to the store (without paying of course) and asked the owner for the nearest other hardware store. They will get my business from now on.
Nah, I.'m too chicken for that sort of confrontation. I would just smile and walk out . The $1000 remark was perfect.

(5,359 posts)years ago George Soros showed us all his Space Laser and told us how he would control the hurricanes.
I do wonder, seriously, what could be done using chaos theory and quantum computers in a decade or two.

(17,406 posts)No one should be discussing their religion in a place of business unless it is absolutely KNOWN that both parties share the same beliefs, and even then ONLY if the conversation is between the two that share that belief and no one else is involved. And I say that as a Christian, myself.
I absolutely hate it when someone tries to use religion to get a response.
