America is being run by Zaphod Beeblebrox

America Is Being Run by Zaphod Beeblebrox https://share.google/NFDknyfqnEh5C7d1D

“Adventurer, ex-hippie, good-timer, (crook? quite possibly), manic self-publicist, terribly bad at personal relationships, often thought to be completely out to lunch.” He is a jerk to Arthur Dent, a terrible partner to his girlfriend Trillian, and relentlessly self-obsessed. He’s also president of the galaxy.

although I was thinking Ignatius J Reilly

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Confederacy_of_Dunces

A Confederacy of Dunces follows the misadventures of protagonist Ignatius J. Reilly, a lazy, overweight, misanthropic, self-styled scholar who lives at home with his mother. He is an educated but slothful 30-year-old man living in the Uptown neighborhood of early-1960s New Orleans who, in his quest for employment, has various adventures with colorful French Quarter characters.

Trump 2 is far more threatening and meaner and more interested in actually being dictator for life ( whatever is left of his ).

He knew the job of President wasn’t to wield power but to direct attention away from those who actually did. He was perfect for it.

Zaphod got it right a few times. Yes, he was a freewheeling drunk, and a jerk, but he came around in the end

Zaphod had an inherent coolness to him, and a moral core. These are not attributes of our President.

I was saying it in his first term too, but search (whether Duck Duck Go or Google) just doesn't pick up old DU posts properly these days.

We have a bunch of pencil pushers here and any good desk jockey has some Vogons traits.

At the end of the second radio series, it seemed he had been in league with a consortium of rich psychiatrists (eg Gag Halfrunt) to have the Earth demolished to stop the Question of Life, the Universe and Everything being found out (which would have cost the psychiatrists a lot of money).
