Post card campaign, little constructive criticism

Living in Virginia, we are bombarded by TV commercials and mailers from candidates. We are also getting a bunch of post cards. They are a way to personalize thank and are a good thing. In the past week I have received 4 postcards. Today’s was rather odd. The message was
Thank you for being a voter, who you vote for is private, but whether you vote is public record. Please vote in the election on Nov 4. And his is a rather odd message. Most of the cards hit themes important to me, education, healthcare, leadership, food costs, voting for positive change, democracy matters. The message today was just a little off. If you are writing postcards, keep the message positive and encouraging

that writes a lot of postcards. I contribute in other ways, but my husband writes many, many postcards. There is always a script. Postcard writers are discouraged from deviating from the script. I have seen this message. I will tell my husband that this particular message is not being well received.

Hers is a very targeted pitch to Loudon County and Prince William voters related to education.

I think and hope the cards will help but the “ we are watching you” message is a bit creepy
Thanks for what you and your husband are doing to turn out the vote

The message was to remind previous voters to go vote (and don’t be intimidated ) . The your vote is private is geared to those people ( mostly women ) who think that a family member will find out who they voted for. The last line is to clarify that the ONLY public information is that you Voted .

I thought it was odd, too. But the information we had that these messages have been tested to be effective with specific groups of people.

Have a nice night

If that is the goal, omit the reference to any of it being public. That part serves no purpose beyond sending the creepy subtle that the we we're watching you.

I've written more then 1000 of these postcards, and I refuse to use that message.

I find it creepy. You have to use one of their messages. You don't have to use that one.
