Best idea I've heard about what to with "the ballroom" when we have a Dem president

Turn it into a museum. The person that brought it up said it should be a museum so we never forget how we lost our way. I like that idea.
Turn it into a Civil Rights/Civics museum. Just like you have school buses taking kids to various museums, 50 years from now, school kids should be going to this museum to see what happened in this era. Appropriately, call it The trump museum.

Each playing an endless loop of all the things Trump has done to send the US off the rails.

Should be a short loop, 4 to 6 hours only. lol

Healthy drinks and snacks should be provided for the school kiddies of course.

The Dem president or his First Lady could drop in and say a friendly Hi! to the kids - being future voters and all that.

After school hours and weekends - repeat for adults.

(Missed my calling to work in PR earlier in life, it seems.)

And show clips of his supporters saying that they don't care if he does away with fair elections, separates children from their families, kills innocent foreigners in boats, takes trillions from workers and gives it to the 1%, tears down the East Wing of the White House...
Also fund a media studio to develop brief snippets of the history through which we are living.
If these facts are not frequently shown to the public, in five years people will say that they never happened.

Should we be so lucky as to have a second chance, it's a perfect setting for the tribunals of the cabal, after which it becomes a museum to what Americans must never do ever again. That'd be the way to do it. Every president gets a "library", let that horrible edifice stand as the sarcophagus of F47's legacy.

If it's even built well enough to last a decade safely without excessive upkeep.

Do something non Trump related…maybe a large scale monument of the Constitution, with a reflecting pool for people to be able to hold space for all the social trauma, the millions of lives that have been affected, a space of quietude, because this era has utterly lacked that

I’ve been twice. Some of the Third Reich buildings are still in use today. But I take your point. The ballroom should be destroyed. Problem is our right wing media would turn it into a scandal for whoever that new Democratic president is, while continuing to ignore or sane wash the Trump atrocities.

“Why is President (fill in the blank) wasting taxpayer money demolishing a perfectly good building? Is it petty revenge against Trump?”

That would be the tone. Of course, I say do it anyway and fuck the both sides scumbags in our national political media.

One in particular, the German Resistance Memorial Center, commemorates the members of the German Army who tried to assassinate Hitler in 1944, and is also a memorial to the German resistance in general. Germany doesn't want to forget the Nazi years, and we don't dare forget the Trump years. I like the idea of razing the thing, but I also like the idea of making it into a museum of Trump atrocities and what we did to stop them - our own resistance museum. Erasing Trump's name and evidence of his presidency won't erase the factors that gave him power, which is why we have to remember him. We have a Holocaust museum and the Legacy Museum re: slavery; we need to memorialize the bad things in our history so they don't happen again.

The ballroom is an abomination unto man, and it can't be allowed to stand - especially since Fat Fuck plans to name it after himself. The ideal thing to do would be to rent the same excavator they used to tear down the East Wing and let Army Engineers who didn't get paid for a few months thanks to Trump's shutdown tear it down.

In Major League Baseball, when a new stadium is built and the old one torn down, they like to put a marker where either home plate or where all the bases in the old stadium were. Rate Field in Chicago has a home plate memorial with the foul lines extending from it. Citi Field in New York has plaques at each base. What I'm thinking is after we rebuild the East Wing, getting the money for it by liquidating Trump's assets as part of his sentence, we put a bronze plaque in the ground at each corner of the ballroom.
